Decided to buy it yesterday after waiting for a never coming discount on PS Store. So bought it full price since I heard so much good things about it. Played a couple hours yesterday, it's really nice.

I'm not far in mind you, just got passed the Capitol Building stuff.

So far it's been a great journey. I love the narrative on this one, really intense stuff. The Enhanced edition is really nice too. The only thing is the firefights. I find it a bit harder to aim in the game but I like it, adds to the immersion and realism.

Should have started it before 2016

It really is as good as they say. I had issues with aiming too. Its no FPS with a mouse when it comes to aiming.

If you haven't played Uncharted 1 - 3, do so after you play Last of Us. Its has similar mechanics and an enjoyable story.

Yep that's the plan but i'll need to finish Witcher 3 before getting into Uncharted
So maybe in 2019...

I need to come back to this. The controls turned me off so much I didn't give it much of a chance.

My only real complaint with the game was that the battles all felt scripted. As in, enemy encounters all happened in tightly controlled "battle zones", and lost an organic, natural horror feeling.

I know why, and it was obviously a design decision to make the game feel more cinematic and immersive, but I wasn't a fan of entering an area and having the game basically enter "combat mode".

Other than the that, the story and game itself are some of the finest examples of plot and character exposition in modern gaming. Period. Few to no games have had that kind of emotional impact.

The only thing I'd say that was kind of tedious to get through was the beginning-- which acted like a huge tutorial... That sucked...

How long was "the beginning" though? I put in enough time to start sneaking around with the kid and I was still wondering what the big deal was with the game. Everyone told me to keep playing, it gets better, but that's just making excuses for IMO poor controls and stale gameplay. I don't care how good the story is, if I'm not having fun then it's not much of a game.

I've considered trying to find a well edited collection of cutscenes and gameplay so I could pretty much watch it like a movie or mini-series, since the story is apparently what makes up for everything else.

I likewise hated TLOU controls - they're very similar to Uncharted.

While Uncharted 2's story / scenery was good enough to pull me through the game even though I hated the controls, TLOU was so good it made me not think about it nearly as much (other than some parts where the controls made me have to repeat parts). I won't touch another Uncharted as it currently stands.

If (when?) they make a sequel to TLOU on PS4, I will probably buy it just for that.

Uncharted 4 added the option for lock-on aiming, making it behave similar to GTAV shooting mechanics which made it a more enjoyable game for me. I didn't get through uncharted 2 or 3 because of the shooting controls, and was glad to see this change. Might be worth checking out at some point.

2nd game I played on the PS4. I had the PS3 prior and played the demo. I was impressed with how close the experience was and is a testament to how good the engine is that Naughty Dog used for Uncharted and TLOU.

TLOU is a mood piece. An existential one. That's rare in a successful game. I was more blown away by BioShock Infinite though. One of my newest favorite games of all time. Up there with Ultima VI and Wasteland.

Yea the controls aren't great but the story/voice acting are the reason why people say it's one of the best games ever.

I've owned the PS3 version for several years but have yet to play it. I bought the PS4 version for $28 the other day. I was not going to pay the $50 asking priceit was selling for well after its release.

I just started playing this as well and boy is this a good game. I agree with the horrendous shooting controls. If there was autolock aim then everything would've been much easier. But the horrible controls add to the theme I feel.
The atmosphere is amazing. And I haven't even reached the end yet. I somehow don't want it to.
Naughty Dog is one hell of a developer.

I plan to start it this weekend. I'm tired of listening to gaming podcasts and having to quickly hit the stop button because they are going into spoilers for the game.

As for the aiming, as long as it is about like the Uncharted games, I am ok. Gears of War feels better, but once I fool around with the sensitivity in the Naught Dog games, i am usually ok.

I didn't have any problem with the controls, I just didn't care enough about anything going on to keep playing when I wasn't particularly enjoying the game.

It's basically the Uncharted engine, so you should be fine.

I'm about half way through now. It started slow, just like Uncharted 4, but I am getting to the point where I am thinking about it even when I am not playing it. Of course I have a good way to go, but I still like Uncharted 2-4 better. The aiming is not quite the same as the Uncharted game and I think that is because of the sight picture sway. I haven't used any supplements to upgrade that stat. The only time I really hated the shooting was when a horde descended on me. There's no way you can head shot 5 enemies all running at you. I didn't even think until I had just run away from that horde though, that I should have tossed a Molotov at them.

I dig a good stealth game, like Splinter Cell or Hitman or the Arkham games, and the Last of Us usually does stealth really well, better than the Uncharted games. My biggest gripe is the spawning enemies. I cleared out a section of about 7-10 enemies in complete stealth and then the game spawned more enemies surrounding me and right on top of me, so they spotted me right away and started throwing Molotov's at me.

There was also a time when I was sneaking up behind a guy and just as I was about to grab him, he fell right out of the map.

I was determined not to ruin my first playthrough by using a guide, but I have been reading some about sections that I have already completed in the game, and some scripted conversations have not triggered, which is a pain in the ass. They should have patched some of this stuff when the remastered the game.

some of the convos are event based, like elie will say something and you have to react to it or it wont happen and such

i didn't have anyone fall through the map but thats comical, the spawning thing happened once that i remember, was in the area after Bills

the aim upgrades help a lot with the aiming
