I like I'm sure many other users Anandtechers want to buy laptops but, worry about gaming performance.

For those of you with laptops could you please list the laptop that you own it's graphics card etc (intel extreme, Radeon 9000, shared or not etc......) and list the games you play or have played on the laptop and whether or not you were satified with the way the machine peformed.

I think this thread could help alot of people in there decisions to buy laptops

Thanks

Finally the thread I've been searching for. I'm eagerly awaiting responces as I'm about to purchase a notebook pc and am worried I will buy one and not be able to game on it (For reference im looking mostly at the Toshiba 5200-00E or 5205-S705) Please end my worries someone

Laptop: Dell D800 Latitude
Gfx: Geforce 4 TI 4200 (not mx420)
Memory: 64megs DDR not shared (512 system memory)

games played:
BF 1942
UT2k3
Wolfenstein ET
GTA 3
GTA Vice city
C&C Generals
Warcraft 3
CS
Quake 3
Mafia

I have yet to get a game that brought the laptop to its knees.
Also, there are many rumors that this particular laptop is upgradable to the 9600 mobility when it gets to Dell.

Dell 2650 with 1.6ghz Celeron, 512mb DDR, 16mb Geforce 2 Go card. Scored approx 1600 on 3DMark2001SE and I play WC3. Game is acceptable on medium settings with some eye candy turned off. It seems WC3 is about the limit for this notebook in terms of gaming that would be acceptable for decent gameplay. I'd stay away from any laptop with these specs, or something similar for you'd definitely want something with more power.

Wow I've been all over the net looking for a thread like this. I'm just surprised I still knew my password . The only problem is that I won't be getting my laptop until February '04 but it's nice to see what kind of performance everyone is getting.

Dell Latitude C400
866MHz PIII-M
384MB PC133
i830 integrated gfx

It plays a bit of Age of Mythology and Unreal Tournament just fine for when I come home from school on some weekends. Otherwise I leave the big rig to the gaming action

Dell Latitude C840
P4 1.8Ghz
15" UXGA LCD (1600x1280)
40GB 5400RPM HD
nVidia GeForce4 440 Go 64MB
768MB RAM

I've played:
Ghost Recon
Rainbow Six 3: Raven Shield
Baldurs Gate II
Medal of Honor w/Spearhead exp.

No problems playing any of them. I usually play at 1024x768 but with R6 multiplayer, I have to tone down the graphics detail a bit otherwise it's a little choppy. It'll play most games I think, but I'd definitely spring for a faster CPU/GPU if you're a gamer. I'm a software developer so this puppy works great.
