Yeah I got it. Forget about it costing $70 a month. That's for new subscribers only.

ATT rolled out with it like beginning of this year in my neighborhood.

I was tempted to try it until it bind you on a 2 year contract, so i just decided to stay with spectrum as they have been really good lately with bandwith and speed even during peak hours, and this is all without any contracts or early disconnect charges.

But my neighbor has had it, and he rants about it constantly.
I try to explain it to him that its due to his cheap 40 dollar router, but he refuses to spend money on a pfsense box or a router which can handle that bandwith.

Hopefully I'll be ordering it this weekend - need to have roommate cancel so I can be a "new customer."

It's not $70, though. They list $22.xx in fees PLUS "taxes and other fees."

Just placed an order, gig service & extreme TV for about a total of $130 a month after tax & fees, also without any contract.

Just need to shop around for a fios router to buy so I can have it as backup for my own.

I've had it for about a week so far, upgrading from 150/150. It's been good so far, no problems yet and downloads are of course, stupidly fast.

I have it in my area, didn't even know about this. I wonder if I can get it for the same price I pay now for all my services.

EDIT:

LOL yeah I'll pass. It's an extra $55/mo than what I pay now. Not worth it. I love how Verizon (well I guess all cable companies) don't reward people for being loyal customers and only give new customers these good prices.

You're in the minority, seen a lot of reports of people getting upgraded to gig service for cheap, many at less than the new customer deals.

Maybe I'd have to chat with someone, I just checked the upgrade options on the website.

If you doing just internet to just internet, its probably not that great, but the ones updating int&tv to same are doing well.

Yeah, that works with Comcast. I have to do it every couple of years to get my costs back down. If you never call, they just consider you a cash cow.

Good point. Still, I'd save money cutting the cord, I'm seriously considering, again, the next time my contract is up.

Well i've had it for about 2 weeks now. I got locked in triple play pricing of $94.99 for 24 months. Previously we had triple play with 150mbps for $144.99/month. So 6x speed increase and paying ~$50 less a month. Good deal in my mind, though i've noticed the deal quickly gets worse if you have HD extreme TV and DVR + STBs. Since we don't use the TV however I just got the cheapest TV package for the triple play discount.

I can't go back i've decided, downloading 50GB in under 10 minutes is a sight to see.

And for anyone wondering, this price was as an existing customer, not new customer pricing.

Mines supposed to be activated this Tuesday. I got lucky and was able to talk them into giving it to me for $59.99 / month as an existing customer.

Right now, it's only available on these cities.
Even if you're in an area with FiOS, not all FiOS areas have gigabit service yet, as that's up to the local office to have upgraded as well.

I know PG county in maryland for example was skipped over for some reason, with people who call in being told it will be a few months.

Mine not scheduled for install till the 26th. With 3 cable cards my total monthly expecyed bill for DP was 127.

I did laugh at reading some other threads where people ask if the Verizon tech will also run Ethernet to all your rooms. I'm sure that includes in wall installation!

Just got off the phone with Verizon and its available in my area but no amount of charm was I able to get anything close to the introductory pricing. They wanted 60 dollars more. I'm on 50/50 now and the gig service would be cool, but its plenty enough for me now. I remember 7 years ago I had DSL and then moved to and got 25/25 FIOS and I was heaven. I still am happy with it. But it would be cool

Check the online configuration tool.
If you don't have TV and house phone, you can get triple play with the Custom TV package and Digital voice with Gigabit.

Should be fairly cheap.

On my account currently it would cost me $40 to "upgrade" from 1gbps to 50/50mbps.

A lot of people had luck using the "Moving to a new address" tool. They put in the same address as where they have service at and they were able to get the new customer pricing. I got my deal by scheduling a cancellation and the retention department called me and hooked me up

Buried deep inside they are still an RBOC with the "what us bargain?" attitude. When it is finally available in Prince William I will try to bargain with them anyway as I could probably be persuaded to go with the triple play and turn off DirecTV.

I've had it since the day it was launched as 750. Saw 940 up and down from the beginning.

I was paying $175/mo for it, but as of my next bill it is supposed to drop to $79.99 which is close enough to the introductory pricing to not be worth cancelling/starting new service.

It was worth every penny of $175/mo so I'm thrilled about the price drop. They fucked up the launch of it as gigabit though and pissed off a lot of people (including me) when they initially told people over the phone there would be no price adjustments.

Hopefully the price change goes through as they've promised, but I love the service.
