It's made out of corn. When it's powdered and aerosolized and in the right concentration, it's an explosion hazard. Stage lights can be quite hot and with all the electrical equipment around, it could only take a single spark to set off a dust explosion which then turns into a fire with other nearby, flammable material.

Stage lights get VERY hot... depending how long they've been on. Crazy how something like that can so easily happen no one even thinks about it. Very unfortunate. I'm sure this colored stuff will be revisited in the lab...

Typical can ones you see all the time are 1000w I think. Though they make all kinds and it depends what bulb you put in them. So yeah they will get very hot!

I'm surprised they were using such a powder in proximity of these. Pretty sure someone is getting fired over this one. :awe:
