This weekend the apartment right next to mine caught fire. The flames consumed the 2nd and 3rd floors. What really amazed me was just how fast the fire spread. Luckily the winds blew the fire away from the rest of the apartments. It made me think about just how fast your life can change. The fire seems to have been caused by a grill that by law no apartment residents are supposed to have. The good part is no one was hurt. I got some pictures of the fire and some after. I will post some of the fire, as I haven?t uploaded the aftermath ones.

My fire experience:

Last Thursday night, I was sitting at my computer and started to smell smoke. Check my computer - nope. Looked out my window and thought - "I didn't hear of any brush fires nearby - hummmmm". A few minutes later I smelled more smoke, then heared a distinctive crackling sound out my window. Went outside and saw a small fire right outside my apartment.

My fat-azz neighbor who is always smoking outside decided to just flick his butt in the bushes between our two apartments - not a good thing to do in Florida on a hot (for April) windy day. How did I know it was him? I saw a pile of spent butts piled half-a-foot high (no exageration) on the ground just outside of his door.

I grab the fire extinguisher, bang on his door until his fat azz comes walking out, then put out the fire (there wasn't any immediate danger, and I wanted him to see what he had done). I told him - do this again and I burn your ass, too. His reply - well, I guess this is a good reason to quit smoking. I said damn right - I didn't say maybe you could lose like 200 lbs, too.

it was pretty bad. the Virgina beach FD got there quick but just spread so fast there wasnt much they could do to stop it from burning through the top 2 floors. the worst part is if it was started by a grill, and it was my building i would want to kick some ones butt. in VA it was made against the law to have any type of grill in an apartment for this reason.

You aren't the only one. A scary thought.

I'd be dragging all my stuff out of my house just incase.
