I can't tell if you're really that dense or if you're arguing to argue. Would you feel better if the city just decided to cut off all services - paid for or not - to everyone outside the city? That would certainly solve all of this. Then you'd have a situation where the county simply doesn't have a fire department and the people who live there are on their own. No more fee to pay and no fire dept to just stand there and watch the place burn.

I'm more knowledgeable about govt. then you apparently are; governments are supposed to be created and legitimized thru the consent of the governed. The US govt. was created because a constitution was created and ratified by popular vote hundreds of years ago, and thru tacit consent, you as a US citizen are bound by its laws and government...unless you renounce your citizenship or go to some place that US law has no jurisdiction over.

As for any of this being "extortion", I must have missed the part where some govt. official put a gun (literally or figuratively) to the homeowner's head and made him pay the fee "or else". the homeowner made a choice to save a few bucks on something he didn't need, and the county has an equally valid choice to respect a cheapskate's decision and only put out fires that people VOLUNTARILY paid for.

You are cross-subjecting.

If you were an illegal, your house would burn, they would try to save whoever they could, and you would then be arrested and deported.

If you are trying to imply that they would somehow be treated differently because you believe our system caters to them you are wrong. The only thing in that scenario our government caters to are insurance companies.

Try to keep your rants a bit more linear. If you bring in too many other subjects you are opening yourself up to more innacuracies that will hurt whatever position you take.

BTW, you do not have to KowTow to anything, really. These guys are not taxed for fire protection, it is their "god given" option, a scenario that MANY tea Party supporters are now crying for.

Except, as you have demonstrated, when that "freedom" could somehow adversely effect their own lives. Then it is a God Given Right.
