Some features that I've noticed quickly are:

1. Find bar pops up at bottom, extending the status bar.
2. RSS feeds - Now you can bookmark RSS sites such as news.com. Very cool!
3. Engines added - Amazon.com, dictionary.com, ebay.com and yahoo.com are new editions
4. Google Dictionary still doesn't work

Old Extensions do not work. Web Dev. Ext., for example :/

Release Candidates are not Hot Deals IMO. They are still 'beta' and depending on the software, could be bug filled. Just MO

In my experience the RCs are significantly buggier than the major releases, even though all Firefoxes short of 1.0 final are supposedly betas. For instance, I just uninstalled Mozilla 1.8rca3, because it was having trouble downloading (that said, I replaced it with the current nightly build, which appears to have fixed the problem).

And RCs are released often enough that I don't get too excited about them, and generally don't download them unless they have some particular functionality that I crave or the major release is broken. For instance, I downloaded Mozy 1.8x because that branch allows you to dump all your email accounts in to a single Inbox instead of having a plethora of seperate accounts. Strangely, when you go to Firefox extension page the default is to download the first 10 extensions for 1.0 "Preview" rather than the "stable" version 9.x. There were about 84 of them when I last checked, compared to 155 for the stable release. As long as the have BlockXXX 0.1 I'm happy, since I promised my mommy that I wouldn't look at any dirty pictures on the net.

The extension support is a bit muffed at the moment. Wait a few days for the authors to update them before upgrading to the RCs.

choosing encoding in both opera and mozilla --> Japanese --> nothing
both computers able to view Japanese pages fine in IE btw
