Your post reminded me that I wanted to move to the ESR channel. Of course you can't just switch from release to ESR. And they make you jump through loops and hide the download. Very annoying. But I was able to update in place fine.

After considering the top issues, the release drivers have decided to ship a Firefox 10.0.1 to fix two issues:
1) A top startup crash (bug is security locked because it's a crash)
2) Java applets cause text areas to hang (bug 718939)
The issue with the add-ons manager is unclear at the moment but looks fixable with a hotfix so it doesn't warrant a chemspill. I'm looking to see if we can blocklist the versions of AVG Safe Search that are causing the broken location bar behavior.
All other issues need too much investigation to be actionable right now or were deemed not to be major enough and can wait until Firefox 11.

I never upgraded from 3.6.x because every release from 4.etc on seems to have generated massive shitstorms from the faithful. What is the current opinion on 10?

It runs fine for me, but i've hit a few sites that give me a "your browser might not be compatible."

I've heard that this is an issue with firefox going from 9 to 10 and websites not handling the 2nd digit well.

Been running nightlies since last year, and aside from a couple issues(due to running alpha builds), Firefox has either gotten better, or stayed the same. Currently on 13.0a1.

I've had great experiences, with addons also, with FF 10 on both computers. No problems here.

have you noticed increased memory use the last 2 versions? 9&10? i think my lastpass add on is wreaking havoc with my firefox, since i started using it my memory use has skyrocketed where before that i had no problem. within 3-4 hours my memory use goes over 1,000,000 forcing me to shut browser down and start it back up. i even contacted them about it. you can guess the results from that

I don't think I've restarted the browser since the 5th. That was the last time it updated.

Same thing happens with Roboform.

I gave up using it long ago. At least I can use Firefox now.

No. I've been checking and it seems to be using less memory overall. But i don't use last pass or roboform.

Wow, I installed Waterfox 10.0, and I was greeted by a big full-screen ad, when it started up.

I'm trying to figure out what's going on there.

if they want to start updating without consent they need to do it in the background. AGREED. and multiply that wonderfully long delay when you count in your other pc's and especially my netbook.... ugh, its a 3min update

That's why I like to run a version behind, just upgraded to 9.01. Funny I have no qualms upgrading chrome, maybe its extensions never break with each upgrade.
