Which browser do you prefer?
A pencil and a piece of paper, probably.

Anyway...

Because Mozilla keeps dropping features and changing stuff I absolutely need, I have my auto-update turned off. As such, I haven't had time to update to this version because first I need to test it and see if it works with all my extensions and doesn't break my productivity. I just updated to version 26 from version 22, a few weeks ago, so it's probably gonna take a while for me to bother testing version 27... By that time the new Australis interface is probably gonna be out already and I'll end up having to upgrade to an outdated version instead... Like 28 or something.

Just curious, which ones are you talking about? So far for me they haven't taken out anything that I could not live without.

The first issue was when the idiots at Mozilla decided to redo the Download Manager, which was working just fine. They do not know about "if it works, don't mess with it"
However, that is somewhat fixable by adding a couple of extensions:

Downloads Window Add-on for Firefox 26+ ... I am using this
https://addons.mozilla.org/de/firefox/addon/downloads-window/

Download Status Bar Add-on for Firefox 26+ .. I am using this
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/download-status-bar/

Download Manager Tweak - For Firefox 26+ .. I need to try this one at it may negate the need for the other 2 items

https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/download-manager-tweak/

Just curious, which ones are you talking about? So far for me they haven't taken out anything that I could not live without.
They'll take out the addons bar, and the customization options for the back/forward and stop/reload buttons, and they'll take out custom toolbars (if you need them - I don't) and there are discussions to remove tab groups (because few people use them) and the search bar...

I don't remember anything they've taken out, because if it's missing, I get an extension or don't upgrade. I'm not saying that the 30+ extensions I have at home and the 45+ extensions I have at work are there to replace lost functionality, but some are.

The first issue was when the idiots at Mozilla decided to redo the Download Manager, which was working just fine.
Word.

The new download manager is unusable, and has pushed me to use DownThemAll pretty much every time I download something... Which I don't really mind, to be honest.

That it what i sometimes do until i know i can live with it ok.
I have no problem changing my needs or preferences. If they come naturally. I remember it took a hell of a lot of time for me to upgrade to 4.0 from 3.6, a few years back, all because of extensions I used and didn't want to lose. 4.0 was, after all, a very lackluster release. But after a few months I decided to search the official addons library for something to fix all my needs, and though I didn't bring all I had to 4.0, I didn't loose any functionality and my workflow didn't get messier.

Just last month I dropped my old friend All-in-one Sidebar, which I used simply for quick access to the bookmarks sidebar, and I dropped it because I shifted my second monitor to the left of my main monitor, this eliminating the (easy) access to the bookmarks sidebar (that is located at the leftmost edge of the screen). I started using the built-in bookmarks button on the toolbar (and got an extension to keep it open while I middle-click my bookmarks) and I'm fine with it. This time it was because of something I did (switch the monitors' order), but if it's something Mozilla does and I have a solution for it, I'm ok going for that solution. If I don't have a solution, I delay my upgrade. Simple.

Now that's what I'm talking about! Thanks for sharing! I hatted Firefox's new downloader.

Is this the version that completely changes the GUI?

Here's copy/pasta from my reddit post...

I was gonna lock my version before Australis hit, but said "fsck it", there's no point in fighting the system. With the ClassicThemeRestorer, it's useable, but my Forecastfox is AWOL, and it doesn't honor my GTK+ theming. I might drop Forecastfox. It was the only proprietary addon I used, but I really liked it. Anyway, this is Iceweasel 29.0a2...

lxskllr .. can you try this theme ? Firefox 3 theme for Firefox 4+ Reloaded!
With the newest build you have ? I and others would like to know if this will work
with the Australis that will soon come out. The link says it is not for Firefox 27, but I have FF27 and this theme and they are doing just fine together.

Do you have any tricks for forcing installation? I can't get it to install. I was first blocked at the website, so I turned off js, and downloaded the .xpi, but when I try to install from a file, It won't install. I have the NightlyTesterTools, and disabling the compatibility check isn't working, and neither is fiddling around in about:config. I suppose I could try editing the .xpi, and see if that works...

Ok, I edited the .xpi file, and got it to install. On the bright side, Forecastfox has reappeared. On the other hand...

Not quite sure what you meant by that last statement, but your browser has a lot more buttons than I ever had.

All those buttons are a theme defect. It's showing the replacement buttons it offers in one place. I used to get that occasionally on Windows when I used custom themes, and a theme became incompatible. If you look carefully below the main panel on the top, you'll see little slivers across the bottom of the panel. Those are the tabs. They aren't displaying correctly.

I suspect this theme *won't* work with Australis unless the dev(or someone else) makes major changes to it. Australis is fundamentally different from older versions, and any theme that changes more than color will require a full overhaul.
