Yep. I am perfectly happy with Firefox 3.6 though and may be out of norm for saying this but I prefer Firefox 3.6 at the moment over Firefox 4. Speed is still important just not a top priority. I rather have more features than speed anyday.

That's where I'm at with it. FF4 doesn't really add much for me. I use it, and 3.6 alternately as my daily driver, but I really prefer 3.6, and sometimes I have to use 3.6 due to the addons.

Yeah hopefully by the time Firefox 4 final is out most addons and greasemonkey scripts, if not all but that is a dream that is not going to happen, work. Unfortunately some take longer than others to get updated. I like the way Opera is making a stand with add-ons where they will work on any version supposedly. Granted just like Google Chrome Opera's add-on support is limited compared to Firefox as well. Not with the number of add-on I am not talking about but in what you can do. You can customize just about anything in Firefox. Not so in Google Chrome or Opera. However Opera add-ons are more open than Chrome but not sure by how much. Don't think any browser will ever have such open add-ons as Firefox does. Which can be a good thing and a bad thing. Depending on how you look at it.

There one add-on I still use that basically only had support only up to Firefox 2 but they did create a version for Firefox 3 so I was able to just skid by with that one! I know there won't be a version for 4 though but that is not a problem. Thankfully that is one the Firefox add-ons that will still work with Firefox 4 even though there will be a version for it. Not the case with all my add-ons though but thankfully those are still in development so it shouldn't be a problem.

for those having font trouble try this --

Try disabling DirectWrite. Set gfx.font_rendering.directwrite.enabled to false.

DirectWrite is windows only.

Instead, try changing the font Firefox uses in "Tools (Edit) -> Preferences -> Content -> Fonts and Colors -> Advanced" to the one Chrome/Safari/(Insert browser here) uses.

You can use google to find out how to tell what fonts they are using.

You could also try fiddling with the option: gfx.font_rendering.harfbuzz.level in about:config.

think i'll get rid of it.
noticed in task manager it was using a crap load of memory. over 100mb.
quit it, restarted and watched.
just google home page open. and the memory used count just went up and up and up!

edit:
and it wasn't particularly fast
speed wise i think it more than likely is you and not firefox judging by other reports on the web which are saying it is about equal to chrome and opera. i just checked my memory usage with 6 tabs open and it is 467,888

have to disagree. i'm afraid.
system was very slow and jerky.
using ff3 now, and ff is using 78 mb and everything is a whole lot more responsive.
just one of those things i guess

Why does to matter how much memory your browser uses as long as it works fine ? Internet Explorer and Chrome even uses more memory.

Anyway Firefox 4 uses so much memory part because of a tab candy and such. I don't really see a problem. How much ram do you have ?

AHHH...it's getting worse...Flash keeps crashing and some websites don't work correctly. A few builds ago everything was working well.

Well it is a beta after all. I only use beta software as my primary software from a select few programmers and that is it. Otherwise I only look to see what it is new and report bugs.

Clean install and new profile. The minefield builds from a week ago were working fine and then the last few nightly's have become buggy.
