To some extent I love it and hate it when firefox transition from fire fox 1, to firefox2, then we got firefox3, and now we are talking about that firefox transition from 3 to firefox 4.

On one hand firefox keeps getting better, but the down side is that the old add ons like get mail, flashgot fail to work until they are are written to become compatible to the new firefox version.

Any information about what ad ons and extension will fail to work with firefox 4?

here are some more notes from meeting today about the release -

Firefox 4 (Desktop)

• RC1 looks like it will be the final build, so far no showstoppers found
  • several issues have been identified as potential ridealongs, meaning we might do a 4.0.1 release
  • continuing to do triage daily
• assuming RC1 holds, the planned ship date is March 22nd at or around 7am PDT
• reminder to QA + press that unadvertized MU from 3.5->4.0 and 3.6->4.0 will be available on release day (i.e. users will be able to do Help -> Check for Updates to see an update to 4.0)

It's better than Chrome and Opera IMO. I really like the new interface.

I am currently using Firefox RC1 and it's running very well. Unlike IE9 I can run all of the websites which I like to visit without any problems.

It's better than Chrome and Opera IMO. I really like the new interface.

I hate the tabs on top so will be sticking with good old Opera which ironically is a lot more customizable then Firefox.

I hear from beta testers hardware acceleration of Opera 11.50 is awesome so can't wait until that's official.

I found that the latest Tab Mix Plus version allows you to put tabs at bottom(so just above taskbar).


You go into Tools of Firefox then Tab Mix Plus Options then Display,Tab Bar then you see an option for it.

Too high lol,I like at bottom of screen like on my Opera(you can however have it on top ,bottom,left,right on Opera too) which is so far still more customizable.

I don't like the thumb preview on Firefox since I can't get it to work for tabs ,only works if you put mouse curzor on Firefox icon in taskbar,however with Opera you can put it on any tab and it shows a thumb preview,before you ask I did try this solution http://www.techexplorer.in/2010/07/how-to-enable-all-tabs-preview-in-firefox-4.html but its not the same(that works similar to IE).



I also noticed higher resources used (30 to 40% more with same tabs opened and compared) with Firefox compared to Opera as well,looks like I'll be sticking with Opera .

To change tabs to bottom, simply rightclick the toolbar and untick "tabs on top". You can also completely customize the interface and where everything is. Unlike any other browser. Which is one of the many reasons Firefox is the best.

In essence, if you're asking "can Firefox do this?", you're asking the wrong question. Ask "how can I do this in Firefox?".

Yeah, you can have them there if you want. Simply go into Firefox > Options > Toolbar Layout... or rightclick the toolbar and select Customize... and drag the bookmarks toolbar items item into the add-ons bar. Don't forget to make it visible too. To have it on the sides, you need an extension, that is available, of course.

I think I found a major bug but I don't know how to report it. My browser froze on me several times while watching youtube videos while surfing and doing some other stuff in multiple windows and tabs.

No "report this" dialogue came up.

I hope it's not a showstopper bug because I'm loving the new firefox.
