User can receive suggested tiles in the new tab page based on categories Firefox matches to browsing history (en-US only).

Hmm. It started with "the new tab page will be populated with results for new Firefox users, but once you've got some browser history to refer to, you won't see the 'suggested results' any more", now we've got "suggested tiles" which is basically another term for "advert" (at least, that's how I read this).

It's one tick from disabled, mine already was. This is far less egregious than pocket, hello, and the other extraneous bloat that's been making its way into Firefox. I've actually gotten a bit put off with FF and was relieved not to see anything else along those lines in this release.

Where is the option to disable that, I didn't see it. (maybe mine is already disabled).

The option to disable suggested sites is in the gear icon on the new tab page. I read that the stable 64-bit release was initially intended to be this one but it's been pushed back to 41. Haven't used it long, but I'm not having any issues using the beta so far, feels snappy and solid.

Point taken, but it's still a case of advertising creeping in to FF, slippery slope etc, IMO.

It just came up after the update, and I am immediately happy to see color at the top of the browser again (this is on Win 10). The white on white was just too boring.

Looking forward to seeing the other enhancements.

Thank you. I am hoping it isn't too difficult to install the 64 bit version to replace the 32 bit one.

I also noticed in this version I see this message in the addon page (I use the HTTPS-Everywhere addon)

HTTPS-Everywhere could not be verified for use in Firefox. Proceed with caution.

I really hope they are planning to submit for official verification soon!!

I also have the notification for HTTPS-Everywhere, and it's a little odd of all the extensions I have (some much more obscure) that is the only one with the notification. As for the upgrade to 64-bit, I just installed over the 32-bit and viola. It installs under Program Files (x86) by default (64-bit Chrome does this too).

Edit: Nope, installing the 64-bit version adds an additional install in Programs Files and leaves the one already in the (x86) folder. Messy.

<starts up Firefox with a new profile just to see this new theme>

It looks just the same as usual?

I've been using 'Furfox Tail Twister' for ages now along with the classic theme restorer (on my usual FF profile).

I have that to but with other add-ons. Actually about 3 but one I don't care about.

You should switch to a different branch of Firefox so it doesn't matter if HTTPS Everywhere is verified or not. So it still works.

HTTPS Everywhere is still working for me, it's just a warning on the extension list.

Edit: Actually, I just looked again and the warning is gone now...

A few of the pages that I would visit would often hang on previous versions. I though it was my router (so I tinkered with updating firmwares, QOS, etc). I just updated to 40 and so far, the pages that used to hang now go right on through. I discovered this by updating one PC and not the other. I couldn't get over how slow the 39.0.3 version was on some of the pages. Once updated, the pages now load much faster (I'm talking about a 20 second hang on version 39 and older vs a 1 to 2 second processing on the pages with 40).

Wow, anyone else having problems on Wikipedia after upgrading? Every time i click a link there FF crashes.

Was the warning because that add-on wasn't from Mozillas add-on site?
Add-ons installed through the official Firefox Add-ons site undergo a rigorous review process before they are published. These add-ons are signed and verified.

When you install an add-on through another website, Firefox checks to make sure that the add-on has been digitally signed before you can install it.

Using Firefox 28 now instead of Pale Moon, and have no plans to upgrade to Chromefox 40.
