Goodbye, Hello: Firefox casts off its built-in video chat client this fall
http://www.pcworld.com/article/3102...its-built-in-video-chat-client-this-fall.html

Announced last year, Electrolysis, e10s, or multi-process support is Firefox's ability to process core browser operations separately from the content viewed on a Web page. Multi-process support allows a page to crash without bringing the entire browser down with it and improves the browser's overall performance. e10s rollout will take place in two phases, first in Firefox 48, and it will finish in Firefox 49, set for release on September 13, 2016. Mandatory add-on signing refers to Firefox preventing users from installing any add-ons that have not been approved by Mozilla's testers. This is something similar to what Chrome employs, but Firefox users have been spoiled all these years, always having the capability of installing any add-on they've desired. Rust is a programming language that's a revamped and improved version of C++ but that protects developers from accidentally including dangerous memory bugs in their code. It achieves this by how the language was constructed and by how developers write the code.

No thanks, as unsigned add ons are disabled in Firefox 48 .. and I have one that I know for sure is no longer supported but still does what I want it to do. (Google Toolbar For Firefox) ..Everything else would probably work fine.

Thanks for the heads up. FYI if you are using lastpass you'll need to update your plugin for it to work correctly in 48.

Since the 48 update whenever I type a url there is useless drop-down with http:// appearing with my typed history. How do I disable that useless line?

That might work, but it is a bit complicated. And I am sure that when the next Firefox comes out, it will probably overwrite those files and you are back to the beginning again. Hopefully Mozilla will listen and keep the option to run unsigned addons available. Or maybe someone will write an add on that will reenable that feature.

That is true but you trust a firefox addon to do this for you over doing it manually ?

It is not that, I just don't like playing with those cfg files. The add on in question is Google Toolbar For Firefox which I use to get my Google Search box and some custom buttons (as shortcuts instead of bookmarks) .. Not terribly important but that is how I like it. If you know someone who can sign the file, let me know. I can send you the .xpi, get it signed and send it back. It never needs to be updated afterward or hosted at Mozilla. (I tried to do it myself and was not able to .. not too much into that side of the application)

Yes I can sign it for you as long as there no duplicate addon. I do it through the addons.mozilla.org website. It is pretty easy to do and you can request it not to be posted online but just for you.

How do you want me to send it to you ? Not sure if it can go in a PM or not .. It can be edited if needed, as it was originally done by Google, but they have discontinued it a few years ago. This need not be a Mozilla hosted add on (unless others might want it)

A new empty folder within Bookmarks "Other Bookmarks".
Can this be deleted somehow?

Question for those that experiment or may know for sure:

If you copy the prefs.js file from a Firefox installation that has
xpi.install set to False Type about:config in the browser's address bar and hit enter. This loads Firefox's main configuration page.
  1. Confirm the warning prompt if it appears.
  2. Search for the preference xpinstall.signatures.required.
  3. Double-click on it to toggle its value.
When you set it to false, you disable the add-on signing requirement.

Apparently Mozilla is removing this entry in About:config

Will my idea restore that entry and functionality in
Firefox 48 see that and allow unsigned extensions to be installed ? ?

Does anyone know how to disable the "visit" line when typing a URL without completely disabling the drop down with typed history?

browser.urlbar.unifiedcomplete is false but it does nothing to fix this issue that appeared in 48

I've read that it will be next year unfortunately until Firefox is completely multi threaded but they are moving in the right direction now!

I really hope firefox 49 is at least as multithreaded as chrome. The only reason I'm not still using firefox is that they've fallen so far behind chrome on the technology side; google seems to hate its users using their software in any way they don't approve of. See:
