Firefox 50 Released

The biggest factor for me with a browser is its addons. If they don't work I switch. Such was the case with Pale Moon. I used it for years, then Moonchild decided to get rid of SDK or whatever they're called addons and I was like, NOPE! Went to Cyberfox and use the Classic Theme Restorer addon. PM v27 is a mess!

It's unfortunate yes. I've had to just reinstall older versions of some addons for the time being. Just can't get used to other browsers for my primary.

Hmm. Conflicting reports. It just seems strange that one loading tab would slow down the whole browser in 2016. I have plenty of processing and internet speed as we as 16GB if RAM so that shouldn't be an issue.

Perhaps it's and add-on slowing things down. Plus all the school kids are home this week which doesn't help.

Hmm. I've had issues with NoScript not showing all page script sources in the drop-down list, and screwing up some sites with it installed, even when I "allow all scripts on page" or whatever.

I rarely allow all scripts on a page but I've been seeing the same thing the last couple of weeks or so. uBlock Origin also blocks many essential things to show some emails from newegg, jet as well as many online stores. I've also been getting the occasional email from ebay that is mostly blank. I haven't figured that one out yet.

I have seen this in all browsers I have used.
It is usually because of a javascript that is really slow waiting for data.
No-script does solve the problem, but, that isn't always an option for some sites.

No, I didn't say that. FF+uBO with dynamic filtering does pretty much what I need them to well enough. If clickjacking was a concern to me uBO + uMatrix are an excellent combo, but choose to use only uBO for ease of use. Even NoScript is susceptible to clickjaking occasionally when u are allowing some sites to display properly, in this case u are the weak link.

IMHO, it boils down to two choices, being in total control or managing expectations with ease of use. The later takes into account your advanced knowledge and ability to deflect the bad element to execute.

Well thats not what you said in your earlier post when you said ublock manages [clickjacking] just fine.

There were 2 problems which caused FF to hang - the buggy flashplayer plugin and loading many embedded videos/images on some websites. Maybe the recent versions of FF are working alot better but the problem was definitely there and Opera didn't have the issue when did my own testing months ago.

I'm still using the old version of Firefox because I rarely use it since I often use Chrome for the past few years. I will surely try out their new release soon.

In addition to the Multiprocessor, Firefox is also working on the sandbox to restrict access to the processes that host web contents. This will help secure Firefox against a range of potential exploits and it is expected to be released next year, if nothing goes wrong during testing phase.

I believe that report can be misleading as many pc's now have dual graphics with a built in intel gpu and a discrete graphics card. All 3 of my pc's (desktop, laptop and tablet) have an intel gpu but the desktop has a NVidia card and the laptop has an amd card. If FF is just scanning for one card it could be misreporting what is actually present in the sampled pc.

although i have firefox with windows xp i am also trying out opera36 and opera is very good

i have been learning lots about opera and have replaced firefox on windows xp and windows 10 computers. not gettind the same problems i had with firefox especially with twitter so using opera will work well for me. opera is so much faster with windows 10 and windows xp than firefox.

i actually wish i HAD NOT been donating some money to mozilla and any more donations will be going to opera instead!

opera is just another chrome reskin owned by a chinese firm. If you want to support a better blink engine browser look into Vivaldi.

400%? I'd love to see them demonstrate that. I'd believe a claim of a 4% general improvement without hesitation, maybe a 40% improvement in the context of "no-one cares if you improved the responsiveness of that particular operation" (e.g. going from one options UI page to another)... 400% is a bit hard to swallow! I'm wondering if it's a responsiveness improvement that can be observed only by particles in the LHC that have moved on to another plain of existence in the blink of an eye.
