"firefox has prevented this site from opening a window" = BS

Anyone else notice this? The message comes up that firefox prevented a popup yet there is still a popup. What's up with this? I notice lot of these popups are activated on click so if you click anywhere on the site it comes up. No script usually stops these mind you.

Nothing like closing Firefox and finding a pop-under still there that was supposed to be blocked. Don't watch the task bar that much when I'm reading stuff. Been using Chrome for a couple of months and that seems to be one thing that is much better. May have had one or two but it isn't an everyday thing like Firefox is sometimes.

it has never happened to me.
when i get the msg that a pop-up has been blocked, it has.
maybe you have an add-on causing that behaviour.

Some websites have a way of circumventing it. You are blocking a popup, just not all of them. I've had it happen, but very few websites do it.

Sites exploit Flash to circumvent the pop-up blockers.

I've had a pop-up missed with Firefox 3.0, but not (yet?) with 3.5. What version do you have?

I have the latest, 3.5. What's weird is that it only comes up if I happen to click somewhere, even a blank space. So something is triggering it, and you'd think firefox would just not execute this code.

I have had this with IE8 also w/ respect to at least NetFlix. The window does not show on the task bar

If it happens when you click then FF is likely letting it happen because you clicked, i.e. it thinks you requested that popup.
