I recently purchased one of the new Antec cases which include USB & FireWire access from the front of the case. The problem - I only build rigs with Intel motherboards - none of which currently provide IEEE 1394 on-board.
Since I wasn't sure how the front ports were configured, and Antec can't seem to return my calls, I went ahead and made the purchase anyway. I also purchased a SIIG FireWire PCI card (2 & 1) thinking that the internal port might be the answer. I was hoping the header's connector would be a standard 6-pin config - but that would have been too easy. Instead, the connection is split - each of the pins has it's own connector, waiting to be plugged into a 3rd party mobo.
Is there any way to mod the connector from the case to access the internal port on the card? Does anyone know of a "separate to standard" 6-pin adapter cable? Or is it easy enough to do myself?
