Rock on! But, if the 6800s are broken why are they in that table? Also, what software do I need to take advantage of PureVideo.
Sorry for my ignorance, my computer died a few weeks ago and I replaced a GF2MX with this PCI-E 6600GT - so PureVideo is new to me.
They only things that are broken on the 6800's are 2 or 3 WM9 hardware video stuff, DVD/MPEG2 playback works just fine.
(I don't even own a WM9 video )
In order to what you need to get Purevideo working, this link made it work for me:
Enabling 2D Enhancements on GeForce 6 and 7 Series
Terra...
But ...but.... Terra....hasn't anyone told you that that only feature that matters on any gaming card ever made is the WMV9 stuff? Whether you own a WMV9 video or not, you might as well throw away your video card if it can't accelerate WMV9.

Lets finish this right now.
Nvidia has the upper hand in everything related with hardware video acceleration, perhaps, for the mere fact, that they have had it out for a year, and have been able to work and tweak it to their liking. I wouldn't count ATI out yet. While the results were pretty dissapointing, they still have plenty of drivers to go through.

In addition to that, this only tested the deinterlacing. Nothing was mentioned about all the encoding and decoding capabilities it was supposed to have.
If other features don't matter, why did you post this thread in the first place? Seems a bit contradictory to me... This is the same attitude I noticed back when NV was behind the 8ball concerned the broken PVP and their refusal to admit the problem even existed.Originally posted by: Rollo

The best video card is the Great Leader Sublime Renderer with 23 megs of (copied) Hyundai ram. You can buy these from Pyongyang Peoples Silicon Works #23. The rest of you fanboyz are idiots.

You are so silly (as the laptop in the other room is busy doing a dual pass VBR encoding of a WMV for a band's webpage... )Originally posted by: Rollo

LOL- there could be no other. The other day I saw a guy post that he liked the feature set of the R520 more, it was a dead give-away- his dad must work for ATI.
