Its called the Mil Mi 24. I bought a model of it on Amazon but it needs to be assembled and is pretty complicated, I saw one that comes already assembled but it takes over a month to be delivered.

What I mean by "mechanical machine gun" is you are able to control the machine gun and point it in different directions. With some attack helicopters you have to angle the whole helicopter in a certain direction to shoot.

Complicated how? Doesn't come with instructions or the instructions aren't clear or in Chinese?

Seems like a real fun activity to do and there's no hurry. It can be quite therapeutic to do something cerebral like this for a few minutes or even hours a day, until you finally get to the end and then you will look at the finished model with pride and say, "I made that!".

That booklet looks like it is in Russian. Interesting, looks like there are fifty languages that uses cyrillic

Every time I think of building a plastic model kit, I see those insanely perfect ones on social media and immediately give up. I blame social media for setting unrealistic expectations!
Models kind of suck. They're hard to do right, and you stick your kinda ok model on the shelf where you look at it every so often, but don't touch it cause it might break, and it doesn't really do anything anyway. Eventually, after the fifth fall on the floor, you pack away the dust covered parts, and don't see it again til you're looking for an obsolete usb cable to power an mp3 player you found in an old jacket pocket. You then think "Huh... Haven't seen that in awhile", and put the lid back on the box, and continue your cable search...

For some reason I'm having flashbacks to that weird liquid brown glue in school. Nothing like pretending you're an astronaut doing grade 1 arts and crafts. Yeah I just glued a bunch of random pieces of paper together that mean nothing, but I was gone to outer space during that time and visited every planet. What a trip.

The Soviet "Hind" helicopter was a tough competitor in Afghanistan...until the US gave the mujahadeen stinger missiles. That kind of evened the playing field a bit.

The first attack helicopter PERIOD was the Bell AH-1 Cobra which I just got from Amazon, but just like the Mil Mi 24 it seems very complicated to put together, I'm going to try to get my uncle to help me with both of them.

If you don't tap into your inner Einstein, you will never know that he's there, waiting to come out.

Spend at least a whole day, trying to do it all by yourself. It may look complicated at first, but the more you get familiar with the parts, the more you will see how they fit together.

Ah, the infamous "Hind". These had their true debut in Afghanistan, I think? They were pretty damn effective, and still are today, but a huge number was lost to CIA supplied "Stinger" MANPADS which Mujahadeen used extensively. The Hind is meant to be a flying armored weapons platform, to be used once air superiority is achieved. If the enemy has anti-air, the choppers should stay on the ground.

I used to LOVE assembling airplane and helicopter models when I was a kid. The supplies such as glue, xacto knives, brushes, were dirt cheap in the Soviet Union and so were the model kits. In US, it's a hobby reserved for those making a comfortable living.

I just got this, I'm not sure if I should take it out and assemble the propellers, are just leave it in the package because it cost like $60 I don't want to mess it up.

Is it an investment, or something you bought so you could enjoy it? I say take it out and put them on. Aren't they rotors on a helicopter?
