sorry for the double post...

Nice build my man, there are only a few more things you really coulda touched on. At 13, nothin is normally expected of peeps doing this sort of stuff... @ 13 normally peeps don't have anything NEAR this kind of a setup. Go back into the machine once you get that vid card, or right away even... and do some more cable management.

I just finished up a customers build using the silver Thermaltake Tsunami Dream case, the routing options are tricky, but they're there in full force. Take advantage of all of the little holes in the aluminum. All in all, fantastic job d00d. You even ventured into doing some sleeving for custom cable management, just finish up the job bro. On the side of the case, the one that doesnt have the window, there is a lot of room to route excess cable next to the cages for the 5.25" and 3.5" bays. Put a little more lovin into it, and it will be like a pro model. =P

Cheers,

Yeah, I've already routed many wires behind that back panel, but it seems like I cannot fit any more behind there. I'll see what I can do later today.

Also, for some reason my fan controller doesn't work anymore. When I power it up, the knobs lights up, but the fans don't turn on. Any ideas?

First I must say that is an excellent job. You even took the time to sleeve the PSU. Very Nice!

As for the fan controller, first simply check that all the connectors are fully inserted and tight. If no loose connections, then it's likely a faulty unit that needs RMA'd.

Yep nice work, it's always a great feeling when you are completed, it's also pretty damn fun to put it all together.

killer job.

at 13, i had a gateway with a spectacular 64mb of ram! custom? you better believe it: I had stickers all over that case!

i am curious also to the funds behind this.

either way, it looks clean and is sure to dominate once that 7800 arrives.

Still no reply to how you afforded it? At 13 I had a 300mhz PI, I played starcraft on it, but after the initial 1 minute wait period for it to load it ran super smooth...on high with AA maxed out!!!

The funds must of came from 6th grade graduation..... hell I got some piece of paper and a Websters dictionary for graduation 6th grade. But I did get a nice chunk of money for high school graduation... spending half of it on a rig, ordering it this month

I technically only built my own system 2 years ago which doesn't seem very special because it gives the appearance that I'm new to computers when I'm not. I say "technically" because I never had the money to purchase all the components needed to build a system, I did though dissasemble a few Pentium and PII machines back in the day and "rebuilt them" so that I had some remaining parts left over (slower parts than I wanted). I first did this about 8 years ago so its kinda iffy.

I learned about software first and then I learned about the hardware, by the time I got to hardware, when I had a "hardware conflict" I was able to fix it easily compared to some new system builders of today.

On a seperate, but somewhat related note, you are very well spoken (or typed, as it were) for a 13 year old. (Other than the 1 typo that I found)

oh, and congrats.

Well done fella. What did you find difficult if anything? I can't decide whether to do mine tonight. New Mobo, CPU, 7800GTX, PSU and Ram. It's not the building, it's the installation of WinXP and all the other stuff, patches and the like. Anyway well done and enjoy.

When I was 13, I was playing Doom on a 486SX, and I thought it was pretty swanky. Kids these days have it easy - remember installing soundcards with jumpers for IRQs and trying to get them to work under DOS? Having about 20 different boot floppies for all your games so enough low memory would be free? CD-ROM drives with a custom interface that plugged into the soundcard? What a load.

Anyway, congrats on your rig. Really nice-looking, tidy build. Enjoy it!

Wow - awesome job - congrats.

When I was 13, Commodore64s were the big thing, and TSR-80s, and Amigas. Only nerds had computers back then. I had an Intellivision console gaming system- and it was the most incredible gaming experience ever!

When I was 15 we got an IBM PC with 64K of RAM, no harddrive, a 4 color monitor, and a 5 1/4 floppy - for like 3500bucks.
