I have an LCD, as I'm using it right now. I just had a spare CRT downstairs, so I didn't have to cart it back upstairs.

Dell 19" LCD. I forgot the model number, but it certainly isn't one of the top tier models. I believe it has a 25ms response time. My next big purchase after I save some money will be a 2001FPW

Wow...worth reading this whole thread.
Congrats Waylay, if you're that disciplined with saving that much money over time your going to be one rich mofo !
Until you specified how you raised the money, I figured ok, his parents let him have his PC in the kitchen which has nice cabinetry and wine glasses.....there's no way he paid for that himself. But of course you proved me wrong in a big way.
Your really did your homework in the order you bought the parts.....waited for 939 and saved the Vid card for last .
I was just eyeballing that OCZ memory the other day at newegg.....I couldn't find any PC3200 in 1gb sticks with any lower latencies.
I'm a late bloomer, now 38 and on 5th pc build...first was in '99.

To continue the train of Me Too posts, I built my first one when I was 13...
It was a great computer, built entirely out of my Dad's spare parts:

Pentium 90
96mb RAM
3GB Hard Drive (Held in with Duct Tape, I was too lazy to screw it in.. in hindsight, that might be why it failed)
Cassette Type Drive
2mb S3 PCI Video
Three 3.5' Floppy Drives
4x and 16x CD-ROM's
And a great OS to run it on, Windows 95.

Well.. three years and about three new builds later, I have much faster computers. That first one still gives me a warm fuzzy feeling though...

Congratulations, now all you have to do is load Linux on it and you will be set .

*Lesson Learned* - I just fried the USB controller on my Ipod and Joystick by switching the headers of the front USB ports on my mobo while they were still plugged in. The Ipod still works via FireWire, but the joystick is shot.

Just saying scince you said that "accedent" with the usb.never touch the computers internals when it is on or even pluged in!

Don't be such an 4ss, everyone makes mistakes. Congrats Waylay, that's a nice rig.

i am not sure why a 12year old needs a 7800gtx!? well anyway wade; you should have gotten a LCD first then the 7800gtx.

First off, he is 13!!! That is a big difference from 12!! (I know, I'm 13 also) Second, I would LOVE to have a 7800GTX, how else are we supposed to play next gen games like COD2, FEAR, and others? (I forgot to mention that we can also play them with 8xS AA and 16x AF.) I would do anything to get a 7800GTX, well, almost anything, I wouldn't kill somebody for it, but, well, you get the idea.

Nice dude. I remember building my first computer in the 8th grade. It was a decent 1.2Ghz Duron.

Do you think I'm that stupid? When my "accedent" (Spelling check) occurred, my computer wasn't turned on. As a matter of fact, it was unplugged, and my PSU was off. The problem occurred when I turned the computer back on and plugged in my peripherals.

Are you "jokeing" (SP) me? I would concentrate on learning how to spell before you critique others.

"What your jokeing me"
"scince"
"accedent"
"computers" (should be computer's)
"pluged"

Before you critique anyone about anything, you seriously need to work on your grammar. There is just no excuse for that.

I want to play, too!

- "some one" should be one word
- 2 spaces after a period, then a capital letter to start the next sentence.
