I'm going to jump in on the bandwagon here and give sincere congratulations to you, waylay. From my point of view, I think that's an awesome accomplishment for anyone that young. I remember building my first computer when I was 21 ... well, I actually still am 21 and I'm still not finished as my monitor hasn't arrived. That's an awesome rig and you can't imagine how jealous I am. Cheers to you! Usually, I'd offer a congratulatory glass of scotch but if I'm not mistaken, that's illegal ... so, here's some Sunny D, mate!

Setting that aside, I just want to thank everyone on their congratulatory statements again. At first, I would have thought that some people who happen to be older than me would ridicule me strictly on the basis of my age. Well, I was proven wrong.

Just want to say thanks again to everyone!

Great job. You worked hard for the money, in selecting the components and in building it. Now you have an awesome computer, and I hope you have a lot of fun with it!! It must be fun to get so many genuine kudos too. You deserve them.

Thanks once again guys. I still haven't ordered my permanent graphics card, but I have changed my decision to the 7800GT CO Edition by eVGA. It gives GTX performance, but for $100 less. I've prioritized and decided that it really sin't worth it to pay $100 more to get virtually no performance gain.

Well, re-prioritize and get the 512MB 7800GTX for virtually a sh!t-load of performance gain. It's an ATI-killer I hear.........

Anyway, congrats on the now-2-month-old build, enjoy it, because a year from now it'll be old news.

I basically have the same computer as you. Same mobo, cpu, psu, vga, and raptor. Glad to know someone else thought that these were good parts.

wow.when I was 13....Pentium 1 was just annouced and their awsome super pipeline...really just one with the other dimished pipeline and not even OOO. but I just have to have one..so there goes $3000 on Pentium 90Mhz.. ouch...it sure hurts now just thinking about it...after many years of use....had to it was $3k..I finally moved to P2 333 ...and the Ghz race was fun to watch and then bam goes from P2 straight to AXP3200 ....that was a nice change and I think I had every iteration of Nvidia cards from Riva 128 to Geforce4 and everything in between...even Geforce2MX..lol... oh...the good old days....now CPU is oh so unintereting as nothing is really new anymore..just old stuff....Alpha was fun to digest...Pentium is boaring and A64 is pretty boaring as well....actually nothing really interesting architecturally besides netburst since P6. Dual core seems so brute foce to me...

Having about 20 different boot floppies for all your games so enough low memory would be free? CD-ROM drives with a custom interface that plugged into the soundcard? What a load.

Anyway, congrats on your rig. Really nice-looking, tidy build. Enjoy it!

I remember my first 486 build (yeah baby math coprocessor and all) and playing for hours with the autoexec.bat and config.sys for the all important 500KB+ free memory for those games. Dear God the memories ... excuse I think I have a misty eye moment ...

Yeah baby that is what I had. I think I had the Diamond Viper with 2megs ram. Yeah baby 2megs of onboard ram. I was da bomb diggity. Hold on ... another misty eye moment ... looks at his X2 at 2700 watercooled with 7800GTX at 520core 1414mem and Dell 2405 and whispers ... it's alright baby I still love you but the first one is always special.

Actually that is untrue as well for happiness rises from the unconscious belief structure that an outside occurrence can affect the internal consciousness. Desire is like a flame ceaseless and ever-changing. True happiness is unaffected by "positive" or "negative" occurences for they cannot alter the consciousness without permission from the unconscious. Oh crap, I was typing out loud my thoughts again. D'oh. I prefer Homer Simpson myself.

In other words, wait to you start overclocking and your first water unit is attached and you see the Ghrtz rise like Lord Vader. When you hear your pump and the swish ... haaahh paaaaa ... ... haaahh paaaa ...... You will join the darkside. The overclocking force with fill you with more power than you could ever imagine.

Nice rig and make sure you play some games and do your homework or all us techno Uncles and Aunts will lay the silicon smackdown on you

Thats it for 3DMark05?? Not to crap or anything but i thought it'd be a lot more than that.... My 6590 -- and thats only with a A64 3200, 1gb RAM, and a X800GTO2. Some tweaking is in order.... Good job on the build, though!!
