1. What YOUR PC will be used for. That means what types of tasks you'll be performing.
Internet, Microsoft Office, eventually gaming down the road

2. What YOUR budget is. A price range is acceptable as long as it's not more than a 20% spread
$800ish

3. What country YOU will be buying YOUR parts from.
United States

4. IF YOU have a brand preference. That means, are you an Intel-Fanboy, AMD-Fanboy, ATI-Fanboy, nVidia-Fanboy, Seagate-Fanboy, WD-Fanboy, etc.
Pretty set on i5 2500k, anything else is open

5. If YOU intend on using any of YOUR current parts, and if so, what those parts are.
None

6. IF YOU have searched and/or read similar threads.
Took a look at the Mid-Range system builders guide

7. IF YOU plan on overclocking or run the system at default speeds.
Could overclock a little bit, not too much

8. What resolution YOU plan on gaming with.
Highest monitor will let me (1920x1080?)

9. WHEN do you plan to build it?
Now

My parents are having me build them a computer. Below is what I have put together and I was looking for any suggestions or advice on the parts. I am particularly concerned about compatability between parts. Also, is there any other things I will need to order (cables, heatsink, etc) to make the build go smoothly?

Looks good, what kind of video card are you looking at, if any.

He wrote "eventually gaming down the road" in the OP, otherwise for now it is a computer for his parents to do Microsoft Office and internet stuff so even the HD 3000 integrated graphics is overkill. The 520W PSU is there for the future upgrade.

For the OP, have you considered going micro ATX? Even with adding in a graphics card and more drives, micro ATX can certainly meet your needs in a smaller package.

Yeah, I built a fairly low requirement system in a Rosewill R101 Micro ATX case for $500 a year and a half ago, and the users have really liked it. I like that you and the customer are investing in more performance with good value balance to give them good performance for a significant time period.

For an office PC with gaming down the road I'd cut down on the CPU and motherboard and add a 64GB SSD. It'll make a big difference in responsiveness but little difference to eventual gaming FPS.

i5-2400 -$40, possibly even i3-2120 -$100
Intel H67 -$20
Crucial M4 64GB +$100, even 128GB +$175 if you don't need the HDD to go along with it (for now)

You could also do better on the PSU and case:
XFX 550W $61 AR shipped (high end graphics) or Corsair CX430 $20 AR AP shipped (mid-range graphics cards)
CM HAF 912 $50 AR

 to this. Getting an i5 2500K and then saying "could overclock a little bit, not too much" doesn't make much sense IMHO.
