I think that is a very nie build and probably (i am not familiar on how good the graphics card is) would run games fine if you are into that. Seems like a great build and keep it up! i assume you kept your old keyboard/mouse/monitor but one suggestions iw ould have. well two really. don't get a floppy drive anymore but that's personal preference and use. As well maybe a cd-rw/or dvd-rw but i don't know what your uses are.

I think you did fairly well considering your budget.

It isn't (as I'm sure you know) the fastest system on the block. It should be fine for some light gaming. If there are two components I would have done more with, it would be the CPU and the RAM. 2GB of RAM is pretty much the minimum these days, and the 3000+ is a bit low.

It likely won't handle Oblivion, etc. that well, but it should be find for most FPS games, etc.

yeah yeah.

I think i'll wait for a really good deal on some higher end CPU's to go on sale.

now sure about the RAM tho. I guess it's time to look around for a couple sticks of some OCZ.

I think that is an amazingly well put together budget minded PC, especially for a first build. I admit i did much worse on mine. Great job.

good job, nice for the price too  Actually that X850XT is a very capable card, might not be the fastest around but is definitely capable of more than just light gaming, I'd say more like moderate gaming. One of my friends has it and it runs Call of duty 2 pretty much maxed out for one example. It is more powerful than my 6800 I used to have, and I could do stuff like FEAR on that, so you could run FEAR pretty well too

Yeah just a tiny one tho.
(not sure of size)

and the video card is pritty good. I don't play anything that stresses it out at all. the only problem is that the fan is REALLY loud. although there is a fan controler (ATI Tool) it's still annoying

Maybe something like this would be better. I haven't used one, so I don't know how the noise compares to stock. Also, using this might void the warranty.

That is a great first build OP  You might be able to clean up some of the wires/cables with some zip ties, but overall it looks good.

How do you like the case?...The Centurion 5 case was one I was looking at for one of my builds but I was a little skeptical on it...

actually top whoever said cpu and ram would be uped... i know for a fact (on oblivion) that oblivion can run pritty much fine on a athlon xp 2200+ and the fact that the ram is easily fine as well for oblivion... so if the GFX is better than a 6600 or close to then it would be fine for oblivion... no not on highest specs out there but it would run. I know that.

great job on your first build and awesome choices with the motherboard, video card, dvd drive and case. i would've gotten the 2gb value ram kit for the ram for like $140 but oh well. you were already over your budget. great job

nice, Centurion 5 is my case too...I like it ALOT. The front intake fan is 80mm, the rear is 120mm. I've a Seasonic PSU on mine...very quiet system. Have fun!

Dont flame him for the PSU. Nice build. You have a good surge protector or UPS? If not, invest in 1. Itll make it easier in teh long run.

I would of got some better hardware that is just me a X850XT and a single core processor and one gig of ram sounds pretty outdated.

Especially when they were FAR from Radio Shack. Granted, I love my Seasonic 600w, but when you pay $0 for a PSU (I'm guessing that is what you paid based on you total system price- BTW great bargin finding!), it has a really good value for the price (better than any FSP PSU.

So all in all, nice system, nice selecitons, and nice build!

Am I at a lost here? I have almost the same spec as his rig, and plays oblivion very well @ 1280x1024

Yeah yeah my PSU is garbage, so what? it was free anyways

Right now i'm looking into getting another couple of sticks of some OCZ platinum. i KNOW this would make almost everything run faster but i'm not sure if it's worth the $150-$200.
aside from the fact that I spent all my money on this computer (no job or allowance, paid by saving up for years)
