I need help buying my first console. The only game I play is FIFA.

Should I buy PS4 slim or XB1 s?Not interested in 4k player or streaming.
Which one has better gaming specs? PS4 slim or XB1 s
Is XB1s capable of playing FIFA 18 when it comes out next year?

PS4 has slightly better specs than the xbone though its not really going to make a difference for FIFA. Both consoles will be able to play FIFA 18. If the only thing you are interested in is FIFA I'd pick which ever controller you prefer or which system your friends have.

In this situation, I'd go with the Xbox One S. The game will play the same on either console, but the battery life of the Xbox controller is far superior than the PS4 counterpart.

You'll need either Playstation Plus or Xbox Live Gold to play Fifa online. Either is about $50 per year if you don't look for sales that pop up all over.

Can both XB1s and PS4 slim do 1080/60fps while gaming and which console drops frames more often?

Great looking triple AAA games barely manage 1080/30fps. There are exceptions. Doom 2016 is one of the best looking 1080/60fps games on the PS4. There is also the other 'bad' exception. In my opinion Wasteland 2 doesn't seem graphics intensive, but it was a clear 30fps to me. Many twitchy games can do 60fps, but will auto reduce resolution. This happens more often on the Xbox one. If 60fps is important, stick to PC. This might change with the PS4 Pro out next week at a reasonable $400 and Microsoft's Project Scorpio next year.

Check out the Digital Foundry Youtube channel. They do comparisons of most major games and show framerate over time and point out when a game is dropping frames.

The PS4 is more powerful, but I am not sure I would count on the PS4 pro offering 60 fps in many games, a lot of the games are CPU bound, and the PS4 Pro is really only upgrading the GPU. Digital Foundry basically said the PS4 Pro likely won't be able to boost Uncharted 4's single player to 60 fps, and several Sony First Party developers have said their engines are optimized for 30 fps, and they plan on using the PS4 Pro's extra power for resolution scaling and not extra framerates.

There are a bunch of games that lock at 30 fps in single player, but boost to 60 fps in multiplayer though.

As stated above, if you want 60 fps gaming, you will want to stick with PC. Achieving higher framerates just doesn't seem like a priority for console developers.
