Mine just arrived, they work great. So far in the Ohio suburbs(using the car as a distance checker for testing) I got a range of 1.6 miles with acceptable reception. They are clear as a bell, even in the suburbs here(hills and valleys) to about .9+ of a mile, beyond that sound degrades but it is still hearable. But, for nearly a mile sound is clear and crisp. I used my own AAA rechargeables though instead of the included batteries. I tried them initially and didnt get nearly as good a reception. Dont know if the batteries are just low on juice or what but using rechargeables instead made a significant difference for me. I just got em for upcoming family vacation to kings island/cedar point...so when one group goes to ride coasters the other group can stay in touch without running up cell bills. BTW: I ordered em sunday night(9:30ish) they arrived to day at 1:30...hows that for airborne ground...damn. Total after rebate cost is 5.35...not too bad. My 8 yr old thinks they are "wicked cool", if that sways anyones judgement. Very small, light, with belt clip....yet they have rubberized grip and feel solid. Wow, alot to say. Enjoy all. Jon
