Ooops, I was wrong. The base Chrysler 300 has 0-60 time of....
10.7s
http://www.autosite.com/Previews/2005-chrysler-300.asp
and costs $1K more than the base Ford 500 that does 0-60 in 7.5s
Now STFU about the acceleration.

hey i never said the 300 is a nice car. as a matter of fact it is listed in the same category as the five hundred.

by the way where did you see the 7.5 0-60 for the five hundred?

by no means is the five hundred a terrible car. then again, i don't even consider the aztek a bad car.

but for $23k, should anyone really settle for anything that is not the best?

you make it sound like 23k is a lot for a new car.

23k is a lot when you consider you can get an altima, has more leg room and then save a couple of thousand, and get a new TV or something.

Is that before or after rebates?

i was referring to the 2.5S. comparing the five hundred with a 3.5SE would just be totally embarassing. the 2.5S is $20k or so with an auto.

and yes the altima has more front leg room. and why would you need 21 cu.inch of trunk space? you really plan to smuggle illegal immigrants in this thing?

and someone show me the 7.5s 0-60 for the five hundred? C&D estimated it at higher 8's

Autoweek or Motorweek (the tv show) did a little bit on it..and they said the 0-60 time was 7.5 They also said it was a decent car.

As for what RagingBITCH replied to my post, I think most folks on a Ford forum probably wouldn't go for the 500 becase it doesn't appeal to them. They want excitement not blandness, and that goes for most car-based forums as well. They represent like 1% of the general car-buying public.

Plus the Ford 500 is better than the Chrysler 300 simply because 500 > 300. Obviously the higher number represents better car.

Seriosuly though, I'm curious to see how long the 300 can sustain its high sales number.

Toyota Avalon 8.3s $26,145
Chrysler 300 10.7s $23,920
Ford 500 7.5s $22,145

In that case, where's the SRT-4?

I have no doubt sales will probably drop around next year sometime. (300) I just don't see the 500 being all that successful. You have your reasons, I have mine. We'll see how it plays out

Will be interesting.

However if there are any reliability woes with this car..then it's gonna be failure.

I'm curious to see how the Fusion (Futura?) turns out.

I wish they could put the interior from the Mondeo into that.

what is it with ATOTers and Pocket Rockets.

do you really think that the large majority of car buyers can afford to sacrifice room for a pocket rocket?

srt-4? you really think the srt-4 is marketed at the same group as the 3 cars mentioned?

Any pics on the Mondeo interior? I posted a link to the 07 Mondeo exterior, which looks awesome. The Futura is looking pretty good. If they give it an aggressive package and not just plain "blah", it'll capture a lot of the youth market, if it looks anything like the 427 its supposed to look like

lol beats me how you have a defective platform. Luckily only BOV carries news like this about Fords, Ford usually keeps this mum from the general media.

Looks good. I think Ford could be more aggressive with their interior styling a bit. It looks nice, but its kind of Ford "generic" now.

The engine is driving the wrong pair of wheels. They need to bring back the RWD family sedan. It's what Detroit does best, and quite frankly, FWD cars just never feel right.

That "most boring car ever" (I won't disagree) is also one of the best selling cars ever. Apparently boring cars sell very well.

they do.

Toyota Camry
Honda Accord

A to B cars.
