1. What YOUR PC will be used for - Gaming mostly, entertainment

2. What YOUR budget is - Around $700-800

3. What country YOU will be buying YOUR parts from - USA

4. IF YOU have a brand preference - Prefer Intel/nvidia

5. If YOU intend on using any of YOUR current parts, and if so, what those parts are - Have OS, monitor, keyboard, mouse

6. IF YOU have searched and/or read similar threads - I have, but have not really found one for me

7. IF YOU plan on overclocking or run the system at default speeds - Probably run at default speeds. If i can save a substantial amount of money by overclocking, then I will consider it.

8. What resolution YOU plan on gaming with - 1920x1080

9. WHEN do you plan to build it? - In 1-2 months

Something I drafted up really quick: http://i55.tinypic.com/vify9v.png

It's currently at $900, but I'm trying to lower the cost of this build by maybe $100 to $200, if possible. I prefer the nvidia and intel, but I'm not entirely sure if I have picked the best parts. I've never built a computer before, so I'm down for any and all advice.

Thanks everyone!

If you aren't overclocking and you will be using a dedicated GPU i see no reason to get a P67 Motherboard and the "K" version of the i5-2500. If you DO plan on overclocking by saying you will "Probably run at defualt speeds." Then please let us know. For now however i will assume you picked the "K" CPU and the p67 motherboard from lack of knowledge on the subject and not a desire to OC. Here is what I would suggest.

CD/DVD
HDD
GPU
PSU
RAM
Motherboard
CPU/Case Combo

Total: $$813.92 - $30.00 (for MIR) = $783.92

Thanks--and yes, it's because I have no clue what I'm doing. But thanks a lot for the build--this is exactly what I'm looking for!

Either case is just fine, and that build looks okay, you will need a CD/DVD drive tho.

the antec 300 case only has two fans, whereas the other has 3. does it make a big difference?

For what you are doing no, the other case might facilitate a better OC but you aren't going to OC so it is a moot point.

Oh, and I have a cdrom drive from my last pc.

Also, is the PSU adequate?
Is it SATA? If not, you either have to buy a new one or buy an IDE card as that mobo doesn't have a PATA channel. I'd guess if the current drive isn't SATA then you're not too attached to it, so with new drives being just about as cheap as a card, you may as well buy a new drive. Of course, if it is SATA then this is all moot.

Wow, well I forgot that I don't have a wireless adapter.. what's a good network adapter for my build?

I'm using Verizon Fios wireless.

Thanks,
Kevin

You'll want to run at wire if at all possible. The latency and jitter on wireless is killer for gaming.
