Just asking, it looks like any other Geforce card. How can you tell its a GTX590?

publicity is good i guess!?

When you go winning! thats sarcasme right?

Was this thread made after or before, that other thread announceing final speeds of the 590? Because at 612mhz pr gpu core on the 590, it ll most likely be slower than a stock 6990... which isnt winning.

center fan + 2x vapor chambers.... design looks simular to the 6990.

The main differnce is probably just the shroud on the 590 has "curved" edges on the sides.. to restrick airflow or something?

I'm starting to feel the excitement growing !
Its going to be closer than some people thinkies.
Charlie is busy planning is violent tour of malevolence.
My comment is based on the 970 and 1000mhz 6990 comparisons to stock 580 sli . Lots of variables

Isn't that a blower fan, dont they usually use centrifugal fans to get the airflow over those two heat sinks?

You notice that too? Seems odd to force air into a dead-head space between the fan props and the PCB. Am surprised they went with this but I'm sure it was an engineering decision and actually does, for whatever reason, provide the best cooling solution when factoring noise and cost targets.

The fan will probably suck air through the heatsinks.I dont think that fan will do anything pushing air

Don't centrifugal fans have lower airflow? I could be totally wrong here, but I look at those little fins and I just can't image they can push the same volume of air without making more noise.

Yeah, Nvidia usually know what they are doing when designing heatsinks so it'll probably work well.

Still it keeps the launch interesting, one more thing to wait and find out.

Its about getting the airflow where you want it. i.e. flowing over those heatsink fins rather than bouncing off the video card PCB.

That is not a real pic of the GTX-590. It's an early prototype from January is what I heard.

How come you didn't site the source?

Also, I thought the mod(s) wanted the info to be referenced (source) and unless it's directly from NVidia, to say so explicitly.

Mods?

Maybe it sucks instead of blows?

Hmmm... after rereading that last sentence I think I am going to buy one.

AMD :

Nvidia:

Fans:
Nvidias looks like it moves more air, but its designed to blow downward not outwards toward the heatsinks. AMDs fan looks smaller, it its actually designed to *pull* cool air though the heatsinks (from both sides). (Im just guessing)

Heatskins:
Nvidia heatskins look smaller than AMDs. Is Nvidia useing vapor chambers? looks like just heatpipes.
AMD has more surface face area because of more fins/rilles (which is good).

Which one will run cooler? Im gonna go Nvidia... I think it ll be cooler temps because of the fan, but it ll probably be noisier too.

^this, I think it cools better, but is a noisier method.
We ll have to wait and see.

There is a difference in the cover between the Gigabyte GTX295 and the GTX590, the GTX590 cover is higher at the end near the DVI ports.

The fan is attached to the base of the cooler and not in the cover

That is not the Nvida 590 fan/heatsinks, that comes from the gtx 295 someone showed for comparison in this thread.
The 590 is also going to use Vapor Chambers, no heat pipes, like the 580 has.
