Finally lugged these suckers up to my dorm room. Nearly 50lbs up four flights of stairs is definitely not fun. The set-up was simple and straightforward, no problems there.
Though when I first came into Windows and put on a good MP3 to really test out a pair of speakers, all worries went away. I was a happy man.
The Satellites:
I was expecting the mids and highs to not be very pronounced and somewhat muffled due to only 1 driver per satellite, but much to my satisfaction the exact opposite is what I heard. Mids are very detailed and clear, while highs are equally detailed and bright. Vocals and midrange instruments always seem at the front of the soundstage, with clarity that makes me wonder how I was putting up with not hearing so much sound from a set of so-so computer speakers before these. Satellites are easily on par with those of the Klipsch Promedia 4.1's. In fact, if I had to choose, the highs of the Z-560's might even be superior.
The Sub:
Oh man, what can I say but this thing totally rocks! I have never heard ANY sub from a computer system sound so good. Now, this does not mean it continually gives a really loud "thud" that passes as a bass note. This sub actually puts out SOUND. Very clean and clear low notes. It just sounds great. This sub easily beats that of a Klipsch Promedia 4.1 in putting out smooth and low notes.
I just can't get over how good this system sounds and the fact that I got it for $160 shipped! I would be happy if I had paid $300 to get sound like this. Finally, a set of computer speakers delivers truly excellent sound for an extremely affordable price.
If you don't have a pair of these and are looking at a set of computer speakers, do yourself a favor and get these badboys!!!
