Repost? Anyway, this is one of the dumbest ideas I've ever heard.

The comments of one of the critics ring pretty well true,

"Is there a different way to teach homosexuals? Is there gay math? This is wrong," Long said. "There's no reason these children should be treated separately."


BTW, I would fully support the idea of a private institution for Gay and Lesbian teens, however as a state and federally funded institution I think it's a joke.

I think everybody feels that it's a good idea because some of the kids who are gays and lesbians have been constantly harassed and beaten in other schools

See, now that explains everything. Good thing they have these Magnet schools in Texas, just for the geeks. The geeks were so tired of getting harassed and beaten in other schools.

if there is enough students who are going to attend, i dont see a problem with it, and the point about there being gay math is idiotic, if you think that school is just there for academics you are stupid, a very valuable social education is gained in school too. gays, trannys and such probably have a terrible time in school from the social aspect of it, if they can do better in a school where homophobs cant bother them then i dont see the problem.

If it's restricted to homosexuals only, it's not a public highschool. It's a private highschool. And if it's not restricted to homosexuals-only, then it's nothing more than a public highschool just like every other public highschool out there.

The school is an expansion of a two-classroom public school program that began in 1984. A gay-rights youth advocacy group, the Hetrick-Martin Institute, has managed and financed the program since its inception.

Doesn't look like the government is paying for it.

I see a definite problem in legislating social interaction. What's next Gay libraries, Gay museums, Gay utilities, gay subways. The public good is the good of all the public, not just the gay public. Not only is it a disservice to the gay students it is as well a terrible disservice to the straight ones. It is not up to a city government to step in and seperate fighting children, that should be being done through the intervention of the community.

Again, this is the place of a private institution. NOT!!! a government. It would also be fine for the government to allow grants to children to go to the private institution...

I'm probably getting all worked up over nothing. .... As others have pointed out it's apparently privately funded. I guess I need more information.
