That site sucks.

Still that review shows enough to suggest it's not the card for me. I want near 4890 performance. Not near 4870 performance.

Guess I'll have to dig deep for a 5850.

well, it really sucks, i was expecting the same though... all I thought was it was a notch lower than the 4890 in performance but what the hell! it appeared to be just a 4870 512mb in performance...

I'll wait for the 5770 anandtech review and see if the numbers add up

a 4870 is a notch lower than 4890. at your 1440x900 res the 512mb or 1gb on a 4870 would be irrelevant.

well i don't want to go lower than my previous card which is the GTX 260 216sp sonic ed.

I'm not impressed nor dissapointed by it's performance. I was hoping for more, but considering the price and the stuff you get, it's a great deal.

The idle power consumption figures jump out at me the most.

60 watts better than HD4870 1 GB.....at idle?

It makes sense. (the HD4870 1 GB had 90W idle power consumption if i remember correctly)
In fact i would say based on the AMD slide (http://img5.imagebanana.com/img/78tdqsse/02.png)
that the difference will be a little more more than 60W (it depends from the game tested)

yep, the memory is 5Gbps not 7Gbps.
Maybe the reviewer is Just learning?

Just kidding.

well, the 5700s are available for sale on newegg now, and the prices and specs match the slides, now we just need to see the actual performance numbers

the ASUS 5850 (ie the one capable of software voltage tweaking) is also finally for sale at newegg and I decided to go ahead and grab one

My review would have still been raving about the 1120 stream processors (all somehow fitting on a 180mm2 die). Then I would have included some 7 Gbps memory graphs (in crayon) to show the performance boost.

If the 5770 can match the performance of the GTX-260 216, it's a winner. If it can't, it's not as interesting.

In that review it seems the 5770 is faster when when af/aa is applied at higher resolutions?

You don't think it will match the 4890? Should I pull the trigger on a DX 10.1 4890 or a DX11 5770? They are both ~$10 from each other.

Agh.... couldn't resist myself, had to pick one up for $160. Couldn't go for a 4870/4890 because of the two 6-pin power connectors, figured I had to get a 5770 sooner or later, so I pulled the trigger and am now praying (and will be praying for the next two hours until the NDA lifts) that I won't regret it.

I hope it will be possible to OC HD5750 more than what they got with CCC in that review.

You would think any 40nm core should be able to get close to 1000 Mhz. (Even HD4770 could do 971 Mhz with Smart Doctor)
Honestly I'm more worried about the HAWX performance. Wonder if the lack of memory bandwidth might be a problem for some titles.
