Shamino just put up a review of the X1950XTX over at VR-Zone found here.

I am very surprised that the X1950XTX offers such a big performance leap over the X1900XTX. I was also surprised how much Shamino liked the new ATI card as he leans a little towards the green side IMO. New cooler looks awesome too.

Wow, surprised at how much faster it is compared to a GX2...and the fact that it draws more power than a GX2 also...

EDIT: Seems like VR-Zone's results are a bit skewed in favor of the XTX, since Hardwarezone's results show a significant lead for the GX2 in many games.

their conclusion:
Our testing shows that the X1950XTX is significantly faster than NVIDIA's 7950GX2 at rather common enthusiast in-game setting. This is definitely very appealing for the gamers, especially when you factor in the ability of the card to run true HDR with Anti-Aliasing compared to the 7950GX2 which can't do that, and the fact that the X1950XTX offers dual display without compromising performance while the 7950GX2 has to sacrifice dual GPU performance for dual display. Add the best performing and best looking default cooler found in the market and it really seems ATi has come up with quite a winner this time. It is rather shocking however, to discover that the card actually draws more power than a multi-GPU 7950GX2. Other than that this card seems to have almost everything going for it

Too bad they went with the goofy red cooler instead of the cooler looking silver one... Results are decent, and pretty much what I expected. If this card goes for $450, then it might be a winner.

Card is 399$

AND the hardwarezone results tell us one thing - CONROE FTW! Just look at the abysmal performance difference seen when using a x6800 and the very small gain when using an FX-55?

I think the Red looks better than silver.

Results are certainly better than TheInq's predicted 7%, but in-line with what I expected. After all, overclocking R580's RAM yielded great results which means that the X1900XTX was starved on bandwidth.

BTW, X1950XTX will retail for $399 MSRP. Nice now this single-core solution is cheaper than NVIDIA's 7950

WTF each review has a completely different conclusion. One says the GX2 is till slightly better, the other that the x1950 is slightly better...

::throws hands up::

I'll wait for anand to settle it

Ill say it again...

Did anyone notice Shamino is using Core 2 Extreme x6800 and hardware zone is using only FX-55 which is single core? Thats why shamino gets such awesome scores and hardwarezone doesnt... which means the card is starved for cpu power as well...

Hmm...good point, I guess we will have to wait and see for more reviews to come because the 2 reviews are almost opposite of eachother.

Something's screwy with vr-zone's benchmarks, but I can't quite put my finger on it. Some kind of gut feeling.

I'm sick of this. I've been waiting to buy my rig for several months and all the video card companies do is frog-jump over one another. I'm settling for a 7950GX2 because I don't want to wait anymore...

Maybe I am a cynic, but VR-Zones quake4 scores are way lower(50% slower) than hardwarezones. Granted they are applying 16xaf vs 8xAF but still.

I will await more reviews.

Need a few more conroe reviews to substantiate vr-zone's findings. I'm with nitro, I can't believe they went with this ugly cooler and not the more sleek looking one.

Ill take another guess as to why shamino's review has the x1900 so close to a GX2... maybe he used high quality settings with nvidia? That would explain everything

I mean... shamino is a nv user mostly... makes no sense he would bias the review towards ati

Well, as some have mentioned it seems you need to pair this with a hot-rod top of the line Conroe for it to reach its potential. Anything less and you're bottlenecking...

Very impressive, this is quite a bit faster than I was expecting. I'm a bit surprised that the card's advantage over the X1900XTX generally dwindles with AA turned on though. You would expect the biggest gains with that given the huge memory speed increase.
