First sighting of a Kabini mini-itx board

25W SoC, dual channel memory. Very interested to see what these are priced at when released.

In the same vein, just came across this while looking at more Computex coverage, Gigabyte Temash tablet (as I thought bulkier than ARM tablets but they are also making a claim at 14 hours of operation so some of that space might be for an all day sized battery):

Surprised me too, could just be a misleading/wrong specification. Will keep an eye out for any 25W specs from other vendors.

it's single channel for sure, just some confusion because the board have 2 slots (for the same channel)

yes, 2 slots, and you can buy 8GB modules, and Kabini only supports single channel.

Here is a MSI shot, unfortunately the spec sheet is cut off but you can see it starts to say 2 DIMM.

So ECS marketing just goofed, it seems.

Just to call out a couple noteworthy items, first is the single-channel memory configuration. In theory that could be hampering performance somewhat, but we have no real way of knowing. While the laptop does support two SO-DIMMs, Kabini only supports a single-channel interface, so adding a second SO-DIMM wouldn't help.

yes, just like Bobcat, you could use 2 modules (even 16GB), but in single channel, so it wouldn't help (to gain performance in terms of memory bandwidth)

If I had a choice right now I would probably buy the Sapphire Board

But when it finally hits market its going to come to I/O and price for me( I'm only interested in an A6). Any of these Itx boards could be custom cooled and made fanless. Sure wish Kabini's launch was like Haswell in terms of availability.

Good news, looks like the first kabini itx motherboard should be on the market shortly according to this article(August 22nd).
20,000 JPY for the A6-5200 (or $205) itx board or
12,000 JPY for the E1-2100 (or $123) itx board

I expect them to be significantly cheaper state side, can't wait to see them pop up on newegg/amazon!

At that price they make no sense unless you are TDP limited. Much cheaper to get a regular miniITX+CPU.

We know the prices of thoses APUs so the most likely
is that MB manufacturers and/or retailers are massively
cashing on a product that is still scarce for anybody
else than OEMs.
