First steps towards CCNA?

I was lookin' into gettin' certified... where can i get some info on how to begin this process... if memory serves back when this forum was runnin' ubbs (much better imho =) this came up before and someone suggested gettin' two 2500's to play around with.
Is that the most effecient thing to do? and what kinda books/webpages/classes helped you the most?

your experiences and any other info on the subject would be of great help.... i love networkin' and gettin' paid for it would be a dream come true =] (i'm gettin' tired of being a DB programmer heh)

Get 2 cisco 2500routers and study them well... or u can be able to snag some router program and learn a little from them...and read some books thats all...go take it

Cisco makes an okay book for studying the CCNA, but you will want the Exam Cram book for some more concise explanations.

You will want to understand the OSI model very well before considering taking the CCNA test. The only reason you would need the Cisco switches is if you want to practice using IOS.
