After putting my new sys together, I've been trying to get the damn thing to post. When I turn on the power, I always get a never ending string of beeps. I've tried putting the floppy cable and cable for my CD-RW drive in every combination possible, but to no avail. My system specs are in my sig if you need them.

sounds like it might be your ram. try reseating the ram, or moving the module to another dimm slot. if you're using more than 1 module, use one at a time and see if that eliminates the problem. also as a general troubleshooting rule, if you're having problems getting to POST, remove all unnecessary components...you should only have at this point cpu, ram, and vid attached to the mobo. hope this helps.

The other thing I wondered about was my keyboard and mouse. They're wireless; would that effect the system during a post?

it shouldn't, but if you want to be sure...just remove them. it should still POST w/o these connected.

had a similar problem recently (ish) with old comp, BIOS was screwed by accidental bad flashing. dont even try to correct this until ALL else has failed, it can screw it up, and if its not the problem you have another one.

if mobo is new/under warranty you can replace it or get a new BIOS chip sent to you (manuf' might even do this anyway). else, you may still be able to flash it, check manual etc for other ways, but this is how i flashed mine (ONLY APPLIES TO AMI BIOS's, maybe another way for other ones)

DL the flashfile.
rename the flash rom to AMIBOOT.ROM
insert into floppy, and turn on.
configure BIOS as normal.

I really really mean it, absolute last resort only. that means do not do it until the mobo is heading for the bin.

Of course, mine is brand new. Right now, I only have CPU, RAM, and my ATI Radeon 8500 vid card installed, and the screen is blank. Nothing comes up at all. There's no beeping. My monitor is a Xenon LCD monitor with a tv tuner. I have it set to analog RGB, but could the multiple inputs be a problem?
