I messed up and linked that WD TV media player, I have replaced it with an actual Hard Drive this time.

The link to the HDD is broken. But that Seagate 160gb would not be worth it unless it's super super cheap. The 7200.11 is Seagate's last generation hard drive. A more up to date hard drive such as a WD Black or Samsung F3 would be faster and quieter. You can get a Samsung F3 500gb for $40 plus change at ewiz with coupon code "SUNSHINE15". If you want to buy everything at Newegg and you're willing to trade speed for power usage and quietness, you can't go wrong with the WD Green 500gb also for $40.

Good info on the hardware recommendations. In a different vein, since this is your first build, DO NOT assemble everything in the case and then try to post. You will inevitably have some kind of glitch, minor or major. Do a minimal install outside the box and add one component at a time. This will eliminate a good many headaches.

I haven't bought anything yet, I am hoping to get a full list of components that the general concensus agrees will meet my needs, and then go to Fry's and buy any of the components that are cheaper than Newegg, and then order the rest off Newegg.

When i get all my parts, I am thinking I will
1. hook up my cpu to my mobo
2. Put in 1 stick of ram
3. Put in Videocard
4. Connect PSU
5. Plug in Monitor
6. Fire it up and check that my monitor is getting some sort of input

Does this sound right? Would you consider this "a minimal install outside the box"?

Yep. You can do all this outside of the case. I usually just set the motherboard on top of the motherboard box and do everything on top of a desk. To turn on a system outside of the case, you just have to short the power on pins on the motherboard. You can use anything metallic like paperclip, key, or screwdriver and just briefly touch the two pins and the system should power up. I would also go ahead and connect the keyboard so you can hop onto the bios to check cpu temperature to verify you've installed the hsf properly.

Things I tend to forget to do are connecting the 8pin cpu power connector and pci-express power for the graphics card. You'll just get a blank screen and beeps if the motherboard has a speaker.

Build looks really solid. I know you have a fast SSD drive for programs & OS files but why go with a green drive in a gaming machine? I'd go with the Samsung Spinpoint F3 (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...-181-_-Product) instead. Faster hard drive but the same price because let's be honest with a rig with this intended purpose you're not really going to be worried about power consumption.
