first time overclocking....

As i wrote this is my first time overclocking... i just read the post of Quick and dirty o/c and i have some questions.

i own this type of machine:
amd64 3000+ venice
tt big typhoon
msi k8n platinum
2x512 corsair value ram....

1. i am trying to find the option in the bios to set memory to SPD and 100 as is mentioned in the quick an ddirty o/c but i cant find that option in my bios.... what does it mean??

2. cpu multi is 9 (9x201=1810 right???) and get it to 6...?

3. htt/fsb how is it called in my msi bios??

now about chip.

1. do i have again to raise htt??? or is a different option that has to do with the chip??? how is it called in the msi bios???

sorry if my questions are stupid totally but i am not familiar with o/c and i dont want to cause any problems to my system and also to learn...

if anyone has msi board please respond thank you in advance...

Read Investigations into Socket 939 Athlon 64 Overclocking on the front page. It does a great job explaining things, even though the motherboard is different from yours.

on the MSI board you have it is under advanced settings - DRAM - then it is listed as something i cant remember.. i am at work... but its there i promise!

Change the cpu multi to 7x that is low enough

HTT in your bios, make sure you are running bios ver 1.6 or higher! 1.5 wont overclock at all.

Yes you raise your HTT, very slowly go from 200 to 205 to 210 etc

now make sure your ram is set to 100 when you start messing with everything.

Are you trying to set a memory divider?

ok i got my cpu to 245x9=2200 (for novice i think its good). then i tried to isolate the memory and consolidate.
I set board volts to 2.6 i set mem clock to 200 and then i got problem my pc didnt boot up... i have value ram corsair.
also in msi where can i found the setting to use memory divider??? what do u suggest??

i just want to add system booted up but hard drive was dead and video too..
