I'll be there first week of October for work. Only thing I have planned is touring the Hoover Dam. Not much use for the girls, lights or gambling. Thats not really my style.

You picked a good place to stay: Encore is awesome.

Don't play a blackjack table that pays out 6:5 on a blackjack. Wynn/Encore are pretty good about having 2:1 tables, but there are a few 6:5s (usually they're single-deck, but even if you can count cards well, 6:5 isn't worth it).

(Edit: as Raincity points out, I am a moron in the morning. 3:2 is normal payout.)

The pool at Encore is great.

Vegas has a ton of fantastic restaurants, there's not really any reason to go to a buffet unless you're being cheap. At Wynn/Encore check out the Country Club (especially if you're there on a Sunday and can do their jazz brunch), the Society Cafe for breakfast and lunches, and Sinatra. The Prime Steakhouse at the Bellagio is great; Craftsteak at MGM Grand is good too. If your wallet is really feeling heavy, Joel Robuchon at MGM Grand is both the best and most expensive meal I've ever had.

There are some good bars in the Cosmopolitan -- Vesper if you like classic drinks, and the Chandelier has three different bars depending on what you're looking for. The bar in the Mandarin Oriental is good too. (Though if you don't care too much about drinks, then just stick with the free ones you get for playing blackjack.)

The only Cirque show I've seen was Love, which was amazing. Also liked Penn & Teller.

How'd you stomach it for that long? 2, maybe 3 nights is plenty. I guess 7/6 is good if you're flying from the other side of the states.

7 days is real easy if you don't spend your whole time gambling

You might get one "free" drink at a table, but if you do you'll spend the rest of the day wondering where the cocktail waitress is. In other words, tip her a buck or two per drink.

Bellagio has 2 $5 blackjack tables 24-7 if you're feeling cheap.

Mon Ami Gabi at Paris has one of the best non-buffet breakfasts in Vegas.

Isla at TI has the best margaritas in Vegas, and some of the best Mexican food anywhere.

Tao at the Venetian has some great Asian food, but expect to pay $$$.

The Cirque shows are great, but avoid Viva Elvis, and see Zumanity only if you're desperate.

Jersey Boys is a great Broadway-style show.

Don't make fun of people when they surrender a hand of blackjack. It just proves that you don't understand the game, and it makes you look like an idiot to the players who do.

Leave your kids at home. Please.

How much to rent a Lamborghini for a few hours? Lol.

Also, where's this cheap ticket booth, do they sell tix to the holly Madison show?

The 1/2 price tickets booths are all up and down the strip, just keep your eye out for them. I know there is one by O'Shays and one on the same side as the M&M store on the strip. Several between there also.

Yes they have tickets to nearly everything. Get there as early in the morning as you can to get the best available tickets and go to the box office of the show you are going to right away to pick up your tickets because you don't get assigned seats until the box office. You are paying for a general area when you pay at the 1/2 price tickets booth (not a specific seat).

Wynn | Encore are both awesome hotels; arguably some of the best here. If you get tired of the Casinos check out Hoover Damn. It sounds stupid but it's one of the coolest things I've seen in person.

So far so good, spent $50 in the casino and been at a tone of vmworld sessions. Looking for a good steak house tonight with good microbrews.

She isn't hitting on you, and you didn't just score. She's a fucking whore.

The stank of cigarettes is heavy in that town. You'll wade through coked up skanks more often than not. That place was disgusting. There wasn't even any good food to be had, nor was it easy to actually get anywhere without a damn valet wanting a $20. I'm glad we used Vegas as a landing strip and overnight only - and we headed out pretty much the next morning. On our way back we spent the day there - and was glad the rest of our trip was in Death Valley and Yosemite and down the California Coast (Big Sur towards LA).

Fuck Vegas.
