Does nobody get optical drives for their computers anymore, I know physical media is dying but sometimes it is convenient and it is damn cheap. Or does everyone just have spare sata drives already since optical drives are an old technology that you can reuse?

Same question with cpu cooler, stock or a cheap but nice cooler.

Stopped using opticals in 2006. Never missed it.

Yeah... I just gave AMD some moneyz.

AMD A10 5800K: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...tent-_-text-_-

128GB Samsung SSD : http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...tent-_-text-_-
Thermaltake 500w PSU: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...tent-_-text-_-
Fractal Design case: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...tent-_-text-_-
--------
$383 all up.

Sick deal I reckon for something that maybe isn't the fastest rig on Earth, but definitely has quality components.

Looking to replace a couple of old slow work machines - this setup looks like it would be perfect. Have some X25's that I can use, as well as power supplies. Any problems with using 1600 ram?

Only problem with 1600 RAM would be that it'd limit the graphics performance. Less of an issue on work machines. EDIT: Although to be honest, Trinity probably isn't the best choice for work machines unless your work is graphics intensive. A Core-i3 would be a better fit, I imagine.

Can I ask why not go for A85 chipset? Also, what are you doing for OS?

Ditch the case and PSU for this instead. Trinity has finally made the slim MicroATX case a viable option.

Because it really only offers 2 more S-ATA ports for a total of 8, plus CrossFire support, neither of which interest me for a basic gaming box. I doubt I'll ever use even anywhere near the 6 S-ATA ports on this board and if I do wind up adding graphics to this box, the one x16 slot will suffice for my needs. And that's a big If anyways.

And I've already got a Windows 7 license, so may wind up grabbing an 8 upgrade. Also flirting with the idea of going dual-boot Hackintosh since some have managed to do it with APU setups.

As NTMBK said, Trinity wants 1866 for the graphics. On the upside, you could save a few bucks if you step down to 1866 from the 2133 I selected - drop a few bucks more if you settle for 4GBs instead of 8GBs.

Thanks, I was considering reusing some sketchy Kingston 1600 that I'm not currently using - doubt that it would even run at 1866. It takes 1.65 volts just to run at 1600.
