Looks very good. Strong CPU with the worlds fastest gGPU by far! With the class leading compute power of these chips they are the ideal choice for new builds. Good job AMD!

The CPU part was as hopeless as expected. No wonder AMD didnt want to talk about that.

A10 5800 is slower than A8 5600 which is slower than A8 3870................not again D:

It struggles to match llano despite having much higher clocks. Amd had better IPC in 2008.

Single-threaded performance actually went up, though. Unfortunately they really need to work on that IMC. If they're going to rely so heavily on DDR3 they should have a stronger IMC capable of saturating that bus width. Sitting well behind Intel, and on par with Stars K10.5, while only offering a slight bump in compatible DDR3 speeds over the last gen is very poor.

+30% overclock on the GPU is great to see, though.

Was anyone else extremely disappointed to see this?

2 follow-up processors using the same crappy chipset and socket. No DDR4, no eDRAM and no extra chipset goodies for 2 more years...

Now I'm worried for AMD

To me it actually looks quite good, relative to any Vishera 4-module system. If you think of every module as a core like item (i.e it's a 2 module system), this would bring a 4 module system up to 2500k levels. (maybe even 2600k for some benches)

Edit: Vishera 8-module system lol 8 module system (16 mostly core). See everyone gets screwed up by it.

I used google translate but did I interpret the graphs right? Was the 45nm 1090T whooping its ass Leave it to AMD to find a way to make Phenom look good.

it was compared against processors that had 1.5-2.0 more cores or cost 1.5-2.0 times as much

That's just a symptom of the problem. The A8-5800K is the very best that AMD is offering with an integrated GPU, and it gets its butt handed to it by the i5-2500K. The 2500K was the second best CPU Intel offered with an integrated GPU...over a year and a half ago. The price is low because it can't hope to compete with higher priced Intel CPUs, and AMD knows it.

It is a "quad core". That is what AMD wants it to be called. Well then let it compete with the big boys. In cpu performance it was decimated by any i5 or i7. To be fair though,(a concept that is in short supply lately on these forums), they should have included an i3.

I don't get why people keep trying to compare the individual cores per module to Phenom II cores either. At the same clocks, the individual cores are what, 2/3 that of a Phenom II core?

That part isnt intended to compare to 2500k. Its competition for lower i3's. There was an increase in IPC, and a high clock rate. That bodes well for 8330k. It should easily match 2600K in heavily threaded apps, still behind in single thread. If you look at game apps the A10K is close to 8120 and 1090t in some benches <5%. Im looking forward to full reviews coming in a few hours tonight.

And who cares? I care about Price/Performance. If its priced to compete with the i3 and is comparable to the i3, PLUS it can be overclocked unlike the i3, then I'm buying this.

The funny part is that 5 years ago AMD was marketing the first TRUE Quad-core design...

And now they resort to calling a dual-module part a quad core

Why do you feel an emotional bond to a corporation that wouldn't even give half a dollar for your problems? They don't care about you and by writing this "opinion" which rather i'd call advertisement, you're doing a job that someone gets paid for it, for free.
Also, please enlighten us about this "class leading compute power of these chips".

Because they take up roughly the same area?

32nm Sandy Bridge 18.4mm^2
32nm Bulldozer 19.42mm^2

cant see it's that bad? not magnificent, but not super bad either. The 4 module version may just compete with the i5's. Thats not bad.
