This is the card for you if all you are going to do is watch video all day and not play games at extreme res.

At least there is ONE next gen card that my 6600GT outperforms... (I got 4002 in 3dmard05)

Too bad it's a low end card.

I'm starting to wish I had waited instead of buying my X800Pro. That said, I only paid $200 for it, and I'm not certain the new $200 cards will outperform it.

Wow, thats really really good for a 4 pipe card.

If the x1600 cards are cheap and ever come to AGP (which i know probably wont happen)...i'm tempted to switch over...some of the rumored benchies look good.

Too bad there isn't going to be an 8 pipe card till after christmas. An 8 pipe card at 600+ MHZ with 1000+ MHZ ram with the new core might totally own todays mid range!

BTW, I wonder how far you can overclock an x1800XL? maybe to 600/1450 hopefully!

Isn't the X1600 8 pipes?

Yeah, but the less-than-$150 6600GT outperforms the $150 X1300 Pro. The only reason one would want the X1300 Pro is for Avivo, which I don't really know about...

And no, RV530/X1600 has 12 pixel pipelines.

For less, even...

I can only hope this card goes down to $100 fast. Otherwise it is pointless. Then we need the X1600 series to come down to 6600GT pricing in order to compete.

On the other hand, I just remembered reading on The Inquirer that the X1600 series will be released in November (EDIT: I mean December, not November), as ATI plans to fill in the mid-range gap with its X800GT/O/^2 until it runs out of those, then it will release the X1600 series.

It should be below 100. Why would anyone buy it above 100 when for 20-30 dollars more you can almost double your performance?

Because we are only a small number of people who buy this hardware. The vast majority does not understand this and the difference probably isn't so small in stores like Best Buy.

However, for people like us, you are perfectly correct. Even the $78.37 shipped X700 128MB at TigerDirect beats the $149.99 X1300 Pro...

EDIT: Added the following:

There you go again comparing street prices to MSRP.

You are of course correct here, but you must remember that these cards will launch at MSRP first, so they would be stupid purchases. However, they will hopefully lower in price soon. This is one of the only unclear things here: When and by how much the price will fall.

Very true, the part could end up costing $200 or more depending on availability.

Ya, and especially if it magically unlocks to 16 pipes and can oc past 700 MHZ on air.

But really, I think the X1300's will be available in nice supply, but definitely not the X1800's.

Well, one must wonder why the MSRP is so high, when the performance is so crappy.

Really, the X1300 should NEVER have more than 128 MB RAM and should NEVER cost more than $75 IMO (if these benchmarks are true). The lower end versions should cost even less of course.

The problem is that the price of that card they tested was definitely NOT low end, while the performance definitely is.

The demand should be very low at MSRP, which should cause the price to drop, but I fear the 256 MB memory will sucker in a large number of people who would otherwise not buy the card.

I bought a Radeon X800XL when it first came out for $300, and that card is still going for $250 (a 17% drop in price). I guess I think the X1300 had better have a much larger drop because even @ $120 I don't see this thing selling.

Hopefully the higher end cards are more impressive.
