You know, if I had to take a guess I'd guess that most of us would answer "no" to that one.

It's almost towards the end of the video. There's a *boing* like sound and the guy eating the sushi looks at the fishtank.

It's not a dead fish, just a fish with the sides of its body missing.

That was awesome.

My favorite is the one video of a fish being fried and served while still alive (the back, fillet, were fried and his head area not cook). THe fish is still trying to breath while some family eats the fried parts of it body...

YUMMY!

Do that with a cow and then we have something to talk about... minus the fish tank... you figure you wouldnt be able to see through red water

One time, we caught a giant snapping turtle and decided to eat it.

So, we started out by killing it... or trying to! We stuck a stick in his mouth (he automatically grabbed on with their killer grip) and pulled his head away from his shell. Then, we cut his head off with an axe.

Unfortunately, turtles don't really die. He kept kicking and scratching while we tried to cut him open (this with his head gone).

We finally got most of the meat out and put in in the fridge.

Two days later, we took the meat out of the fridge to cook it, and his heart was still beating!

There, that's my story for the thread.

Everyone is comparing this to killing fish.

But they're not. It's like chopping your leg off the old way (with an axe having you bite a bullet) and then having you walk off the operation table.

If you're going to eat the meat off a fish, kill it first, then do whatever you want to do. Don't leave ita live there.

I love sushi, but to me this is a little gross and a little cruel. I'll still eat sushi because I'm sure they don't do this at my Japanese restaurants. But bleh... why torture a fish if it's meant to be eaten?

Because if you don't torture the fish, PETA and Al Qaeda win! </atot logic>

Are fish conscious?

They might react to pain but if there's no conscience there's no suffering IMO

You know what, mindless cruelty im against. However, i dont care how you treat an animal if its going to be eaten. Doesnt really matter. If its destined to die who cares if you upset it.

At the very least, its senses are being given one final run before it has no senses at all

Agreed. Have you seen the Chinese Cuisine, where they fry the fish alive to guarantee freshness. The head is not submerge and the rest of the body is dead, but the head is alive and flapping. It is just inhumane. I understand that it shows that the fish was fresh, but that is what picking the fish out of the aquarium is about.

**EDIT**
There is no purpose to doing that other than for the dark twisted amusement of the customers. Either one.

It disgusts me to no end. I'm chinese and the inhumane things I've seen them do... I started to watch a video about dogs and how they were headed to the slaughterhouse... couldn't watch it after they dropped them off a truck while unloading, most likely breaking most of their legs in their cages. Sick fvcks. I wish vengeance were possible.
