So, i caught about 10 small snail-type things from a pond behind my parent's house. I added them in to my tank...probably about 10 months ago...

there are now, probably, a hundred or two in my tank.

No fish are dying but they are freaking everywhere. Should I completely empty the tank and destroy them?

I can only guess that they will continue to multiply and eventually overrun the entire tank. It's a 30 gallon tank or so.

found lots of info on them here

They are actually keeping the tank super clean...i read that if they get crazy you can put a piece of cucumber in and they will flock to it. That way I can gradually reduce the numbers if it becomes too much.

You would guss right. You need a fish that eats snails in the tank.

There are 100-200 snails in my tank....

I found out they are Malaysian Trumpet Snails...I think i figured out how to get rid of some of them. If i leave the light off for a day or two they come out like crazy. Otherwise, about half of them stay hidden.

Heres a pic from someone else's tank

You can't get rid of them now. Their little offspring are all throughout the gravel. The only way to eradicate them is by emptying the tank, sanitize anything that water flows in/through/past, and get new gravel.

don't feed the fish as much? That got rid of my snail problem. The snails feed on leftover food.

When I got my 55 gallon tank, it was riddled with these. My red eared slider went genocidal on them. Now there are no snails in the tank at all.

No poison that is safe for the fish but will kill the snails and their eggs?

Puffers will eat snails like a bat out of hell. Only problem is what to feed them after the snails are gone.
