I got to go there. I've never been there and since moving two years ago, there is one around but I haven't went yet.
Saw one is opening around here soon, was wondering if they're any good? Anything special about them I should know (ala in-n-out secret menu)?
Finally went, their burgers suck! Don't know if they do this at all of them, but at the one near me they wrap up every burger in tin foil, even the ones for eat-in.
This is a HUGE NO-NO, as it steams the bun into a mushy consistency, NOT that their buns aren't McDonald's grade to begin with! To recap, they use shitty buns to begin with, then needlessly and stupidly destroy them!
It's the same as with hoagies or cheese steaks, you MUST start with a good roll or you've already failed.
Their fries are decent, quite good actually, but no milk shakes? No self-respecting old time burger place didn't have real milk shakes as a side.
But the main thing is, and it's laughable, is that this is a place that serves nothing but burgers and their burgers are freaking MEDIOCRE at best.
Any independent burger place worth its salt kicks 10 Balls' ass.
Five Guys is the taste equivalent of buying low-grade, high fat beef from Wal-Mart and cooking it on a George Foreman grill, and then putting all the grease drippings back on it.
Skip the fries, they destroy them with salt. Focus on getting an awesome burger and if you are still hungry... get another one...

I like Five Guy's burgers.... If I get one, it's usually a little cheeseburger (the normal one has around 60g of fat... almost an entire day's worth) with mayo, pickels, lettuce, tomatoes and grilled onions. Then a regular cajun fry... mmm them cajun fries be good! If you prefer less seasoning, you can simply ask for normal fries and then ask for some cajun seasoning on the side, which means you can season them to your desired amount.
EDIT:
Oh and the easiest way to season the fries yourself is by removing everything but the fries from the bag, pouring the seasoning in and shaking the bag up.
Methinks you expected too much. 5 guys is still a franchise, not some privately owned specialty joint. And complaining about wrapping a burger in *gasp* foil? Say it ain't so!
The regular bacon cheeseburger is 62...the cheeseburger is a bit less. Unbelievable though.
OMG theres one opening up near me soon :awe: Now I can have in n out of five guys :awe: :awe:
Burgers are good, probably some of the best fast food burgers that I have had. Their seasoned / Cajun fries are rather bland, so be ready to add seasoning / salt to them. They do give you large portions of fries if you order a large.
