edit: firxed via jumper settings. doh.
i purchased a new SATA drive, to replace to IDE hard drives (4 year old system, that i will be upgarding)
at first i had posted here asking how to convert IDE to SATA but then i realized a much better solution would be to just use the SATA connector on my motherboard for this drive.
Now i have a probelm with my machine not recognizing one of my old hard drives.
I first copied my old system disk (IDE) onto a partition on my new SATA drive and this works. I now have my old ide data drive connected as a slave but it is not recognized.
What should i do to get my system to regognize this second hard drive.
I want my SATA drive as the primary, and it is currently seen as primary in the boot list and windows starts up to this drive because it includes the C drive.
i have a D partiion on a 2nd hard drive that isnt recognized.
okay, that was poorly worded but i dont really know what to ask / thanks for the help.
is it possible that i'm maxing out my power supply - how would i check that? i started with a DELL Dimmension 8300 but upgraded the RAM, Video vard, added a 2nd optical drive and 2nd hard drive... does SATA take a lot more power?
