**FIXED**Windows XP install hanging

Trying to install XP and it stops when it gets to "Setup is starting Windows".
system specs are:
Abit KT7-RAID with the newest bios upgrade
750 T-bird
394 MB Crucial PC133
Plextor 12/10/32
generic CD ROM
80 GB IBM HD
Gainward GeForce 2 MX 400 64 MB

I removed the NIC, Soundblaster Live 5.1, and CL Modem so I know these are not the problem.

I tried the newest Highpoint driver.

I also tried the stuff in the MS KB article (Q310760).

Anyone have any ideas?

**I had to install the hd in a different comp and install XP then modify some registry stuff and transfer it back into the original comp.**

You might try setting the BIOS to Fail Safe Defaults. This held me for hours on my last install. Just my .02

Read the other post here about it. I find that it normally works after a re-start or 2!

I did a search but didn't find any help in other posts before I posted this thread. I have restarted several times but it always hangs in the same place. I put the hd in another system and installed xp to it and tried to move it to this system but I get error about the IDE controller. I will try the fail safe default bios.

Have you tried installing onto your hard drive when it is attached to ide port 1 ?

Seems like your trying to install it onto a raid setup , normally you should hit F6 at the point it asks you for a drive for a raid or scsi adapter and insert your highpoint driver disk in and select the appropriate driver to install.
