Check out this Ritek brand DVD-R at meritline, has anyone try these?

I use the Ritek in my Pioneer DVR-A04.

works fine at 2X all day no problems.

I ordered a 50pk yesterday for my DRU-500a. Havn't gotten a chance to try yet, although I just heard that it will only burn at 1X on the Sony and 2X on the Pioneer.

I used these Princo DVD-R in my Cendyne/Pioneer A04 and burned at 2x with the latest firmware without any problems.
They are cheaper($0.85 each in packs of 25, $0.74 in packs of 50 and $0.66 in packs of 100, goes all the way to $0.58 in pack of $500).
They are in California and their shipment is fast(UPS Ground) and FREE

afraid to buy from meritline after I got screwed on the $75 spindle of 25 dvd-r this summer
that is rotting on my shelf (the purple/silvers that they said worked with the A04), wouldn't burn

How was it that these dvds didn't work for you? I just bought a rebadged A04 and some purple/silvers. The problem I'm experiencing is that i can burn dvds just fine but i can't read the last gig or so of the data that was burnt, no matter what dvd-drive I try to read it from.

I used the Ritek for my PS2 and Xbox with DVR-A04 and it works great. Much better than Princo.

Like this may be a bit ot, but bear with me. I want to buy some of these purple/gold Ritek's to try with my new Sony burner. Not sure about Meritline, so I do a search, and find another outfit that's selling them. CDRDVDRMEDIA.com Same price. In fact exactly the same price for the quantity buys.

Yes you should head back to 1.31 or Gradius's 1.31 2x 4 all. But you'll need a special hacked formware to downgrade. I mistakenly flashed to 1.33 and had to use a hacked firmware to get back to 1.31 2x 4 all and now the cheapest 1x media burns @ 2x and works perfect in my stand-alone player. Be forewarned the downgrade hack can take over 20 minutes to complete the flashing but does work perfectly.

I think that oftentimes this is done to escape bad reputation. Its quite possible that meritline had bad BBB records and resseler ratings and so they created a new name(Doing business as) for their company. Check out reseller ratings for either companies...

basically, no. Most dvd's are using DVD9, more data than a these 4.7GB dvd's.

Another question: can you author an SVCD onto a DVD-R and have it play on set top DVD player?

iamme, no. closest thing to doing that is converting svcd to CVD (more compatible w/ dvd players) and burning it onto dvd.


i've ordered from shop4tech and allmediaoutlet before. got my orders fine. they are in southern california (most media outlet stores are) so i get them the next day since i live pretty close by.
