Hey guys this just got alot hotter. Staples has a $40 off 150.00 at Techbargains. Use Pricematch from 179.99 to 153.95. Then apply the discount 153.95-40.00=113.95. Then apply the MIR 113.95-30.00=83.95!!!!
Hope this helped!!!

How come they don't list that as an imprivement on the CloneCD site for v.2831? All they list are some minor compatibility updates and bug fixes. This seems like a pretty big deal to have been ignored in the revision history.

Remember, Staples charges for overnight shipping (about $17) if you pricematch with them and they charge tax!

A little off the Subject line topic but I'm thinking about getting a CD burner and see that the Plextor SCSI is the way to go for me. What model number is this one you are referring to and how old is it? 8/20 SCSI. Where is the cheapest place that still carries it in stock? What is the cache memory, was there OEM and retail with different amounts of memory (2MB/4MB)? When you write 8/20, does that mean that it doesn't do rewriteable? Where are some sites to read up on these drives (ie, the CDClone website)? Thanks...

Oh, and does this Plextor have Burn Proof?

8x20 is an older model, now out of production. The only
ones you'll find in retail channels are overstock or laggard
stock. You won't find one at all at any of the major merchandizers.
The drive was sold under both the Plextor name and rebadged under
the Iomega name. It does not support burn-proof. It does not
support writing CDRW discs.

Uh.. guys, think twice before u get this burner. I got it jus last week and when i went to the IOMEGA support site, maybe u guys should take a look yourselves. Lots of people are having problems getting this burner to work. Someone at the iomega forum mentioned about their scanner getting zapped, it's true. My scanner doesnt work any more. So before you get all hyped up, make sure you can return it when it doesnt work. G'luck

BurnItDwn--Been awhile, eh? Make it clear that you are speaking ONLY of old Mitsumi burners. To Mitsumi's credit, unlike Sony and HP who still make crape, they realized the error of their ways, and are now considered to make one of the most CloneCD useable burners. These burners do DAO, BTW. FYI, my Dad has a 4802TU USB external, which is fully supported in W2K by Nero and CloneCD. LOL....Mitsumi even told him it wasn't supported in W2K, and he wouldn't be able to find a burner program that would work with it in W2K.

bonkers325--Please confirm that RA2 does use SD2. If so, my backup burn of RA2 on SCSI Plex 12x4x32x plays fine on my 32x and 40x Plex readers. I haven't tried it in any other readers.

I though that Delta Force Land Warrior(Nova Logic released in November) used Overburn for protection. Now you are saying that it used SD2. Can someone please tell me which program to use to backup this game? If CloneCD, what setting?
I have a Yamaha 8x4x24
Acer 10x4x32 that I haven't install yet.
and Hp 9110I yet to be received from Staples.com

Thanks for the reply Bonker.
I've updated my post above. So, I guess that my Yamaha 8x4x24 won't work w/ sd2. What setting do I need to use for CloneCd's anyway. Read sub path, ignore error? I have both Delta Force and Hitman that needs to be backup.

huh!!

Vpham97,

I may be wrong, but I don't think any of your burners will work against SD2. The HP9100i doesn't work for sure, I have the scsi version and no go on RA2.

Has anybody got this damn thing to install? I have Easy CD creator Deluxe 4.0 updated to 4.02E and it won't recognise this burner. Then I tried to install the software that came with it and it says that my windows version is not supported. I have Windows 98SE installed. Anybody know how to install this POS?

bonkers325,
Just wanted to check with you on this one. From the thread you have the iomega 8x4x32 as well. I tried reading subchannels with it and was unable to do so. Have you done any firmware or other update to the drive?

thanks for the help!

Then I was wrong, I thought that some games and other types of software were recording some of the info on sub-channels which would make it difficult to backup the disk (for example those disks recorded with sd2).

Should I/could I get a firmware update that will help make the drive more versatile?

Citizen12,

Just installed this burner myself.
Some Observations.

Can't read subchannel data. So you will have problems using this as a reader to backup playstation and I think securom games. On the other hand you can always use a different reader to make the images. Not an issue for safedisk games

Always tries to correct bad subchannel data when writing. Rules out making backups of protect playstation games. I think this also rules out making backups of securom games. Again, not an issue for Safedisk.

So this is probably not a good burner to has as your only one, but as a secondary burner that can defeat safedisk 2.
