Right now I have a Canon S800 that I bought in Jan2002 @ BB for $300. It only does 2400X1200dpi, so I?m waiting until they have higher/better print resolutions than 4800Dpi. Dunno how long that will take, but its hard to justify getting a new printer since this one isn't even 18 months old yet. And since I might print like 5 or 10 Photo quality prints per year, its just better to wait instead of getting the i850. But I seriously gave it some thought once I saw it advertised at $129 locally.
BTW, it does seem true that the more you spend on a printer, the less you shell out in the long run for cartridges. All 6 of my original Inkjet Cartridges for this Canon S800 lasted about 15 months. Now that?s a quality printer. Also, hopefully the next gen. of printers will be USB 2.0 compatible. or hell, even Firewire. I'll finally have a reason to use one of my Firewire ports.
And that?s my $0.02
No matter how hard you try you can't crap on this thread. This printer kicks ass and is worth every penny. I am going to see if I can get a couple more at this price.
