The Collector's edition has a T-Shirt in it and some other stuff. Read the description at Amazon, where the Collector's Edition is down to $34.99 shipped today only.

When I went to compusa i saw 2 people walking out with the game and when i paid, the cashier told me that 10 ppl had already bought the game. Go get it fast before they sell out!

Went to CompUSA/GoodGuys store at Hillsdale Mall, San Mateo (SF Bay Area).

They did not have a single copy and refused to issue a raincheck.

They did a search on the computer and said Hayward and East Palo Alto might have it.

Went to E.Palo Alto store, did not have a single copy (they have the collectors edition for 39.99 though).

A kid in the store (trainee employee) searched for half an hour .. he first got me HL1 and I said thats not it, then he got me the collectors edition, and I said that's not it.

He finally went into the warehouse and managed to get me HL2! Thank god for the Asian kid.. he was the *only* guy in the store who seemed to be doing something, the rest of the staff were pretty much walking around like the aimless zombies in HL unwilling to exert their butts in any way for the customers.

The billing clerk was surprised and he said 'hey where did u get this?' I think the employees are snagging all the copies.

The SKU for HL (not the collectors edition) is 293507. It should be $19.99 at CUSA this week.

Make the bastiches sweat. If you cannot find it in store, ask them to issue a raincheck. If no raincheck ask them to search for inventory in the closeby stores.

Worst case, grab the flyer at the store entrance and price match with Circuit City/BB.

It's actually illegal if they don't issue you a raincheck....unless on the back of the ad it specifically stated they wouldn't issue a raincheck on sale items. I don't know which state you are from but in California advertisers must state the follow if they are to NOT issue you a raincheck:

"Limited quantities on hand"
"No rainchecks"

If those words are not stated, but they legally are required BY LAW to issue a raincheck or you call the California Department of Consumer Affairs to raise hell.

I got my copy this morning at the Milpitas CompUSA store at McCarthy Ranch. They had 4 copies. My friend and I must have been customer #2 and #3. We got there...4 copies became 2 copies. 10 minutes later 2 copies become no copies...=) I even own the game too but for $20? Makes a great gift for someone. I was thinking about PMIng to CC too but it's only $3.
